RPB Moderator Mentors! Q&A about RPB

Well, its been a while since this forum really saw life, or good fighting. I know many of you wonder, what is this "RPB" stuff anyways... what are Role Playing Battles. For those that DO participate, I know your just ITCHING to learn how to get better, win that Tournament of Arms coming up or whatever it is. Well, seeing as I have not really been doing my job as a mod, its about time I started. So, I talked with Spike and we are going to open up the Morderation Mentor topic/training. Basically this will be an open topic for Question's and Answers... also there is a registration if you want, where we can open sort of a "classroom" type topic which will take sort of a free for all setting where Spike and myself will host a large battle, teaching basic components about a good fight post, key insights and also opinions. This will be kind of a collective learning thing, as I cannot claim to say I know "THE WAY" to be the best fighter at TFF. Ive been here a while and can share my personal experiences and ideas, and you develop it from there, same with Spike

The third component of this, is another part of registration, you will basically tell us a fight you are going to have, and request for us to mentor it. We will then watch the fight closely, and comment every post, ever other post or something like that. Basically you will get critiqued while you fight.

I think this will help improve the overall quality of Posts we get in this forum, and will give everybody a chance to get on the same page, or learn some new ideas, new things. We will cover any questions you have, and all aspects of a good RPB... character design, introduction posts, meat posts, and whatever else you want. So, in an effort to get overall productivity of the RPB forum to a better high, im hoping you will take advantage of this.

I'd like to sign up for the classroom thing! I've always been very interested in RPing, I just never can seem to get all the rules right. I always forget something or get in trouble for something I don't know about it when I try to, even though I read the basic rules.

Make me goooooooood! ^_^

And, I must say, this is a very good idea. I'm glad you guys are helping people out with this!

...you don't buy things. And you attack by writing.

RPB, role-play battles. Emphasis on the "role-play." These are written fights. Look around at the rest of the forum, and you'll see. It's full of writing. If you were looking for some sort of battle hack, you're certainly in the wrong place.

Maybe a stupid question, but when do you actually win a fight,( cuz if your opponent's dodging everything and he won't get hit and stuff, it's hard to win...)

If your opponent is dodging everything, literally everything, then that is called God Moding and is against the rules, and you win by default. =P
Just report said opponent to the mods.

Yeah, I kinda understand that, but when is a battle over and when is there a winner declared?

Well... you can get tired of the fight.. ask the person if he's getting old of it... and then have a mod decide the winner. If you know you've been beaten, you dont want to go on any farther.. you write in a post a story about how you lose.

"Inferno Mage takes a shot to the gut, drops, and dies.. The end"

...Hopefully better than that.. but its an example at 6:40 am... so hah! It's all you get...

Another way is if the rules are broken.. tell a mod, you win by default if you're right.

You can before a battle starts start a time or post limit.
Example: 5 post each... or 1 week. Then when its done, ask the mod (of this forum of course) to aid you in deciding the winner!

Most fights won't have an actual winner, as most go unjudged. The only time you REALLY win is in tournaments and such, because that's the only time it really matters.

So, how do you get a fight to be judged?

Simple. You ask someone. Preferrably, the moderator of this area (Spike), but any unbiased third party will do. You have to make sure the person you're asking knows the rules well, and can be trusted to judge a fight fairly.

Hmm..yeah, I was wondering if you guys could help me on my RPB works. I'm on a battle right now, but it seems that no one wants to have a nice clean fair fight

, but I've already done the intro post. So I was wondering if you could at least tell me what could I improve at least using the intro. Thanks.
