Pandora's Box

"Hold still." a voice whispered close by, heavy and breathy. The moon was high and unrivaled by the light of stars. Sand dunes formed gentle curves in the dark and dissolved into the ocean as sea grass swayed, making rustling noises below the rush of the surf. A cool sea breeze rippled the glassy waves and rushed past, better then running at night. A man stood before the crumpled shape of a woman, their bodies silohuettes against a glistening ocean. The body heaved with sobs that shook the night, trembling in fury and regret, as all the world stood still to listen. She looked to the stars, finding none, then to the moon, finding it bitter and cold. There was no pity on such a savage cold night. And no pity to be found for years to come. The man reached out, his hand quivering in the pale moonlight and stopping an inch from her tear stained face, the light of the moon making his skin appear ghostly white. A sigh heaved from deep within his body and his arm returned to his side, never having touched her warm skin or wiped the salt tears from her face. He turned, facing the moon's reflection in the wobbling water, and walked away, dissolving into the night and leaving his footprints in the sand, a bitter reminder. A word spilled from the woman's lips and dropped to the milky white sand. A promise, a curse, a name. It was uttered with such venom and passion, "Isayiah".

Pandora awoke, the sound of her own words still echoing against the bare, bleak walls of her bedroom. She was covered in sweat and breathing heavy, the only sound now in her room. The silence was deafening. She closed her mouth slowly, swallowing her breath and tears, and blinked her eyes against the nightmare, fighting off the last image of the woman, crumpled like a brown paper bag, left on the ground in the cold night. Weak. A gush of hatred filled her body, the taste of something hard and metallic in her mouth. Hatred for the footprints in the sand.

All of a sudden she was on her feet. She cut through the darkness, a darkness you an only achieve far beneath the earth, and flung the door open, starting up the many flights of stairs The sun had just set and stars twinkled knowingly from their perches in the velvet night. The New York skyline, across the water, winked mischievously and sucked the light from around it, leaving it dark and menacing. It was mostly abandoned compared to what it once was. Only a few building still remained occupied, lit from within and heavily guarded. All around the city however were humans. She could smell them. They hid in abandoned buildings and cellars, fatigue and dreams eating away at their tired, fragile little bodies, not having found this haven. Pandora sighed just to hear herself sigh. She was weak with hunger, her hands shaking in anticipation of a hunt. She waited as long as she could, staring into the warm night for a few minutes, she liked to prolong it. She wanted the hunger to be uncontrollable. Finally, when the tiny pulses beating beneath the skin of so many humans was deafening, when the rush of blood through their veins and fragile bodies seemed to plead with her, only then did she embark on a hunt.

Catching hold of the first, only a boy about 17, she forced back his head even as he cried out, striking her with his fists and struggling against her grasp. "Hold still." She whispered sweetly, forcing him to the ground as she pierced his neck and the first gush of blood rushed into her mouth, hot and bubbling with life. His body arched up, a gasp catching in his throat at the force and urgency with which she drew out his life. Her pulse was up against his as she touched his face gently, looking at the fear in his eyes. A thrill ran through her body as his eyes met hers. Tears glistened in them, all fear gone, just a bitter acceptance of what was to be. His pulse slowed and his mouth slowly closed, making a small, wet sound as he swallowed his breath and tears and life. And it was gone.
She stood soundlessly, feeling the horrified looks of the boy's family resting on her now. Although the immediate hunger was gone, her entire body was pounding with the fury of death, the blood flamed through her veins and suddenly she could feel the night and taste the stars. Her senses heightened and her mind alert. She grinned in the dark, although there was nothing happy about it. She was in the mood for a chase.

"You want to live?" her voice was cold. It was ice. The mother of the boy trembled at the sound and clutched her little girl closer to herself. The girl's eyes were wide and blue and shone. "Run." Pandora said simply. "Run away my beautiful little children." She stroked the child's long dark hair, intoxicated by the fear and adrenaline leaping inside of them, then stepped aside, clearing the way to the door and the moonlight outside the dark, dank house. With a cry the woman heaved her daughter up and dashed to the door, shoving the raven-haired girl out the door and running towards the forest with her. It was magnificent. It was beautiful. The hunt was always far better then the kill. The mother's blood was beating fast, coursing through her veins with a fear only a mother can feel. The monster took her slowly, savoring it. Even in her last moments her thoughts were of her daughter. It was disgusting the devotion one can feel for something they're only going to lose sooner or later.

Finally she chased the girl down. The night was alive with scents and sounds one only expiriences just after a kill. Such power one only feels with human blood, salty, sweet, scalding human blood, racing through a pale and lifeless body. She didn't want to kill this girl. Some things were too beautiful even for death, as was this child. Her dark eyes glistening in fear and outrage, her raven curls falling down her back in a cascade and her tiny body alive, so alive. She stood straight, facing her attacker, although her knees shook and tears spilled over onto her face. No, she did not want to kill this girl, but how could such a want not be weakness? She would not allow herself to feel any sort of compassion, so what was it? A moment's hesitation, that was all, and then the girl was gone. Weakness was not an option.

The darkness swarmed with fears and haunts that no imagination could ever do justice to, and Pandora walked slowly through central park, enjoying the feverish heat that consumed her body and paying no heed to any of them. She was recognized among the others, and usually left alone. Her strength, even when she tried to hide it, was that of an Ancient. She'd been around a long time, longer then any other, and she did not believe in mercy or pity or weakness. Her flesh was hard and had paled of all its pigment over the years but she still retained her beauty. It was a dangerous sort of beauty, a fierce, severe, and hungry edge had taken hold of her features; her remote golden eyes and her slender lips, the slight, refined shape of her body and her soft, dark hair that hung straight down her back and rippled now as the warm breeze stroked her as if it owned her. She was walking slowly now, drinking it all in, when suddenly she stopped.

A whisper reached her, a thought, and it was quite close. Someone walked in her park. Another of her kind, approaching slowly, cautiously, making sure their presence was known before revealing themselves. She continued her walk, luxuriously slowly, allowing their approach for now...

"Dont forget your coffee and the salad that I made for you." an old woman said to the lady in front of her.

"Thank you Aunt Mary. Now you tuck the kids to their beds and have a good sleep." the lady replied while gently placing her hand on Aunt Mary's cheeks. Aunt Mary's face aged with time but anyone could tell that she was once a beautiful woman and she will always be.

"Alex, you're 25 and very beautiful. Why dont you get married or have a boyfriend. I am pretty sure all of the men here will be on your knees." Aunt Mary said to her with a gentle chuckle. She sounded a little serious though.

"No, not in a world like this. Not in this lifetime." Alex said giving Aunt Mary a wink as she picked up the paper bag the old lady handed to her.

"You are a strong woman Alex. But you must remember that everyone of us needs love. Even these 'monsters' that roam in the night are probably lonely. Most, if not all, of them were once humans."

"Aunt Mary, they are the living dead. They have no compassion. They must be eliminated. Now please lock the door and go to sleep." Alex replied this time with a tone of seriousness in her voice as she climbed the stairs that led to the entrance hallway of their underground haven -with her custom made rifle strapped on her shoulder and carried all the ammunitions she'll need for the night.

The hallway consisted of a series of doors, each with their own locks. Alex locked each door that she exited from. It was a painful process but necessary. She finally made it outside where her surrogate father, Rex Garland, was waiting for her.

"The others are already in position Alex. Your post is at the Central Park
section tonight." he said placing a hand on her slender shoulder.

"Be careful, Alex." he continued.

"I will. You too....father." Alex nodded as she sets off to her guarding position several meters from their base- a few sandbags piled together was everything that marked the spot. Not much of a protection. It was good for their group to have their base away from the city, where most humans were hiding, but in the forest nearby. Less threat from the vampires.

Alex placed her guns beside her - her ammo had an explosive nature in them -- because vampires can be killed by fire. She wished she could eliminate every one of them with what they had. But the humans were vastly outnumbered.

Alex then unzipped her leather catsuit a little bit to make her feel more comfortable. Her outfit hugged the perfect curves of her body as she sat down and tied her long silky brown hair up on a ponytail. Her evenly tanned skin gave her beauty a more exotic look. Her beautiful emerald eyes didn't seem to show her icy cold heart that was filled with anger and vengeance.

The light from the moon radiated the area surrounding her and she could see the NYC Central Park from her position which was not very far. It was a nice view from up the hill, perfectly deceiving the massacre that was probably happening in that place at night which brought her back to the events 18 years ago...

She could still remember the look in his eyes as he stared at her after killing her parents. The young Alex thought that it was her turn to die. But she was wrong. The vampire simply uttered these words: "I will wait for you." and disappeared like a shadow in the night. She wished he'd just killed her.

"He must've regretted keeping me alive. I cant even count how many of his kind I have killed." she said to herself as she cleaned her rifle with a piece of cloth.

Suddenly, something caught Alex's eye- A figure at the bottom of the hill. it was a little boy. He seemed to be running for his life and his direction was moving towards the Central Park.

"Big mistake, kid. Dont go there..." she mumbled as she aimed her sniper rifle's scope to where she thought the boy was, so that she could shoot if a vampire was indeed running after him. To her surprise, he was gone.

"What the..? Where did he go?" Alex said as she stood up, looking for the little boy. She did not need her night vision goggles this time because of the bright full moon.

"..help.."

"Where are you??"

"..help me.." the voice seemed quite far, but still audible. Alex felt that she had no choice but to go down the hill to help the boy. She brought her gun with her, hoping that she was not too late.

occ- sorry if that wasnt sexy enuff. ^^;;

The doctor closed his door hastily and took a deep breath. He was certain that he was followed again but thsi time he must have caught it close. That damned vamp promised him. But again he felt like he was being watched. There was a thump in his living room and the doctor's heart froze, but curiosity took over and in his frightened state the doctor crept along the polished wood floor and poked his head round the doorframe and into his living room. there was a small light in the far corner of his room and there was a shape draped over his chair. The doctor swallowed hard as the shape shifted seductivley and was suddenly at his back, the voice purring in his ear.

"Whh...what do you want?.."

"Mmm....my dear doctor" the female vampire purred "im..only here to collect..."

"C...collect? but the collection was made yesterday!!!""

The female vampire paused for a few seconds and thought carefully before runningher hand down the doctor's side and over his crotch her long nails digging into him sharply. There was a ragged breath of air and she let go.

"My dear Doctor..im not here for that collection... Im hear for a different collection..." her voice was a seductive and sexual purr as her hands began to caress the doctor all over.

The doctor, not loving the attentions of the female blood-sucker - and not hating them either - was shaking like a leaf... he was scared and aroused. Scared because of the lethality of the female vampire, and arouse because it WAS a female that was letting her attentions roam over his body. The doctor whimpered loudly.

"Oh my dear doctor why the sobs of sadness?" she purred as her hands caressed his crotch even more.

The doctro said nothing for he knew of what was to come. The vampire would seduce him...have sex with him and most likely kill him. This wouldnt sit with a few of the other vampires, they would be in a position to track her and kill her if they disposed of their one main supply of blood. The Doctor was their only key to the Blood banks that the hospitals had securely guarded, and if the sudden supply of blood every two months abruptly ceased, then questions would be answered with brute force.

All the Doctor could do was gulp hoarsly as he felt her hand tighten in his crotch before an audible click was heard in the still heavy silence of the living room before a suddenheavy click was heard. There was then a sharp hiss as the female vampire spun and let her body shift to defend herself. The dotcot turned and was suddenly lookng down the barrel of a warhead handgun. He swallowed hard knowing one peros used Warheads and there was only one person who used Warheads effectively...

"It..its you..." The doctor began to stammer as the warhead was suddenly trained on the female vampire, the automatic whirring of the chambers starting up as Trask loaded his guns and fired twice.

The shots rang out and the doctor covered his ears, the fragile drums burst in his head as the loud shots rang out. The female vampire was hurled head over shoulders and she hid the ground with a heavy bang as the smoking hole in her shoulder and thighs were testament to the power of the handguns, the Scorpion amunition detonating on impact and blasting open.

There was a pained hissing as the vampire struggled to get up before looking at the armoured knee high boot of Trask.

"Y...you...you're..." she began but the following blast silenced her forever before she began to dissolve into ash as the scorpion round slammed into her head blasting it apart.

Once the sound had died down Trask spun on the doctor and pointed the left warhead at the doctor.

"Doctor Naumann, for cavorting with vampires and aiding themin their conquest you have been declaired Extremis Diabolus. Judgement has already been passed, you have already been sentenced."

There was a deathly blast as the doctor suddenly slumped over backwards his head obliterated from his shoulders as Trask was laready leaving the house. He inhaled the night air and holstered his guns in the hoppers at his shoulders and began to make his way through the streets.

Alex made her way to the bottom of the hill. Still , no sign of the little boy.

The brushing of the grass on her right made it clear that something was there. She made her way through the woods silently. A faint cry of the little boy can be heard. Alex reloaded her rifle and proceeded to the voice's direction. Soon, the light of the moon revealed the little boy - leaning against a tree trunk- his feet up on the ground as his neck was being held up by a man- Alex assumed to be a vampire.

She aimed her gun quietly but the vampire sensed her presence. He took the boy by the neck and held the boy's frail body close to him - holding the crying boy on hostage.

"Let him go." Alex commanded as she continued to point the gun at the vampire- she noticed that he was still young - probably looking like a 19 year old. His brown, wavy, shoulder-length hair danced with the wind. His skin was pale and his eyes were dark.

"What made you think I will do just that?" he asked, tightening his grip on the boy's neck.

"Take me instead." Alex replied. The vampire gave her an evil smile.

"Toss your gun towards me." he said, which Alex, in turn, did without hesitation. The vampire let go of the boy as he ran towards the woods. Alex hoped that one of her teammates would find him.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her gun being kicked away by the vampire as he approached her. His gaze was frightening but seducing at the same time. He was wearing a white unbuttoned shirt that showed his well defined muscles and a pair of leather pants and black boots. His movements- slow and sexy but quick at the same time. He stood before Alex and walked around her, brushing his hands against her long pony tail, as if observing her body. Alex felt uncomfortable but remained calm.

The vampire stood before her as he gently pushed her against the tree behind Alex while moving his face closer to her neck, barely touching it.

"You're too beautiful to die. Would you like to be one of us?" he asked as his lips gently caressed her right ear. Alex knew her answer to this for a long time. She would rather die than be this abomination in front of her.

"I am yours." Alex said with a voice equally as sexy. The vampire, pleased by her reply, started kissing her neck as his hands made their way down to her waist. The vampire noticed a series of cylindrical containers lined across her belt.

"What are these?" he asked in a breathy voice.

"I think you're hands are in the wrong place." she said as she placed both of his hands over the zipper of her catsuit on her chest. Alex gave the vampire a mischievous smile. The vampire slowly pulled the zipper down while Alex secretly removed one of the cylinders from her belt.

The zipper was finally down to her navel, just enough to reveal her perfect cleavage. The vampire grinned with anticipation. He then continued kissing Alex's neck as he placed his hands on her shoulders, under the catsuit. Alex, knowing that she had seduced him enough, placed her hands on his back, still holding the cylinder as it revealed a sharp needle on its end. She then stabbed him at the back and pushed the vampire away from her and kicking him at the same time.

Before the creature could react, his back exploded, ungulfing him in flames. Alex then zipped her catsuit up and picked her gun up only this time did she noticed sounds of faint gunshots in the background.

"Alex can you hear me? Over." It was her father, talking over the walkie talkie.

"I'm here.I'm going back. I heard you guys.." she said feeling a little worried.

"Dont go back Alex, there's too many of the..".

"Father!!" Alex cried as she hurriedly ran towards their hideout but before she could even make a step, 5 vampires surrounded her -2 female and 3 male.

"Hello there." one of the females said while licking her blood red lips.

"Hello to you too." Alex said as she shot the vampiress on the head with dead accuracy- exploding on impact. The others, enraged by her actions started rushing towards her.

A slight, pale form appeared in front of Pandora, the shape of a man but the mind of a killer. He stood a moment under her gaze, his face cold and unearthly in the night. It was pale and smooth, all the lines and creases that had made him human so many years ago were washed away with age. He motioned for her to follow, then disappeared slowly into the trees. His scent lingered and Pandora could taste his warm breath on the air. She followed as he had expected, into the trees.

"Lady," He whispered as an offering "Great lady." He kept his distance but his voice, soft and lilting, reached her as though it spoke to her mind. She tread delicately on the soft ground, following leisurely behind. She was in a mood for mischief, a mood for games. "Where are we going, young one?" she whispered silently to his mind. her voice unusually calm. He kept out of sight, far enough away so she could not see him but she may still sense his presence. He kept moving, trying to find a way around her question, but there was none. "Please my lady, just follow me." But she was upon him at that second, his back against a tree and her arm pressed up against his throat, holding him there. "Tell me!" she hissed. "I want nothing to do with this attack on the humans, for I bear no hatred of them. If this is what you had in mind, I will not be used as a tool against these pitiful beings just because you cannot overpower them!"

Her voice was quiet, dangerously so, and it carried with it an agression and frustration that had come to it over six hundred long years. The other blood drinker's voice caught in his throat as he tried to respond, his face even more beautiful when terrified. "I-I'm sorry my lady, please forgive me." he stammered finally. She sneered in disgust, "Get away from me! Stay away from the humans this night, or I promise you will see me again." He stood quickly and then was gone into the shadows. She turned, walking decisively towards the haven near the woods. The one, Pandora had gathered from the man, that they planned to attack. She almost regretted sending him away, for he was beautiful, but she'd learned a bitterness over the years and it see to show itself in those instances. She would become furious with others almost the moment they spoke, and it was all she could do not to kill them at that moment for their ignorance.

A loud burst exploded from just beyond the park, echoing in the barren night. 'Not your business' Pandora thought to herself, but she needed some excitement, the blood from her last kill was making her anxious. Even in life she'd always been curious and it often got her in trouble. Against her better judgement, she bared her fangs, taking in a mouthful of the night air and the scents that came with it, and headed towards the sound.

Two of the undead were closing in on a girl, furious, and the bodies of three others littering the ground described the reason for their anger. Their bodies had been consumed by flames and a greasy stench filled the air. She took down another, leaping out of the way as the last lunged at her. She fell hard to the ground and the fifth vampire wrenched the gun from her hands, throwing it away from him, and starting in on the girl. Neither of the two noticed Pandora hidden in the shadows, and that was how she'd meant it. How ignorant and self-assured this last one was. The corpses on either side of him meant nothing, his fury came from another place. He wished to kill for no other reason then to sample the stench of death. To see this young girl's eyes roll back in her head and her body drained of blood. It was his hatred for humans he fueled now, no hunger or thirst. He was jealous of their skin and their warmth and their blood.

'Disgusting' Pandora grimaced, eyes narrowed, leaving only black slits against her deathly white face. Her hand twitched and flames burst from the fifth vampire. He shrieked, trying to run from the heat that ate away at his flesh but he fell to the ground, his cries growing more desperate. After a few moments he was a pile of ashes, his bones glowing white-hot and the fire still scorching the ground. Pandora smirked despite the unsettling feeling that was coming upon her, she loved to see the wicked struck down.
She turned her attention back to the girl, who had regained her gun and stood very still, looking at the still smoking pile of remains before her, still unaware of Pandora's presence.

((Sorry guys, not too good I know. Try-outs are killing me...I'm SO tired!))

My eyes opened wide as I found myself standing next to my bed with pistol drawn staring off into the light of my room. Dropping the gun on the ground I sat down on the edge of my bed and started scratching at my bare chest. "Get a hold of yourself Zak."

It had been the first night I'd slept in nearly a week, and probably the last for another week. My insomnia was getting worse every day, although I didn't mind, every time I woke up I seemed to get more crazy and paranoid. After seeing so many of the ones I loved turned into the hideous creatures...the very thought of winding up like them sent chills down my back.

Rising to my feet I searched the room for a shirt, slid it over my head and then picked up my leather jacket and made my way outside. The night sky was starting to clash with the light of the day, and I knew the vampires would begin their hunts soon. it was hard to believe something so beautiful only led to the death that was certain to come.

Making my way back into the small house I knelt down next to a metal case taking up nearly half of the room. Spinning a combination lock I lifted the lid revealing my weapons. Reaching in and pulling out an old pump action shotgun and a bolt action rifle with a scope, I slung them over my back, loaded up with ammo, and made my way out into the night.

Crossing the ruined roads that once were downtown New York I came upon a young kid that had been slain not too long ago. Kneeling down next to him I look hard at his face, hot tears sat still under his eyes. He appeared to be not much younger than me… “Haha” I probably would have known him if not for this mess, I thought, but I better get moving of I’ll end up just the same.

Moving on for a few miles I stopped in the shadows near Central Park, and took a seat against an old car. Over the years I had encountered many vampires, and few of those I had managed to bring down. I had no effective way to fight the monsters, I know they can be stopped with fire, but other than the young naive vampires it’s almost impossible to lure them into flames. But that wasn’t going to stop me from doing everything I could to help protect people from vampires.

Pulling myself to my feet I began to move farther down the road as a few gunshots rang out from the edge of the woods. Swing my rifle from my back to my hands I took off in a full sprint for the woods to see if I could lend a hand.

After a few minutes of running I finally came to and old wooden house with lights still on throughout it. Making my way closer to the house I noticed the horror that had happened here. Bodies covered in blood laid so peacefully in the grass around the house, both mean and women, young and old…all dead, just more of the work of the thorn of my existence.

Walking slowly through the corpses I heard a whimper come from and older looking man at my feet. Grabbing a cloth from my pocket I bent down and held it against his neck to stop the bleeding. “Just hold on sir, you’ll be all right, I’m gunna take care of you.” I said looking him over. I could tell he was dead, I just tried to make his last moments more peaceful. It was odd though, even in death the man looked so strong and confident, like a great leader of some kind.

“Son, pl…please…” the man softly spoke as he grabbed my arm. “Find my daughter…my daughter Alex…hel...help her…” he trailed off and lost his grip on my arm, his dark cold eyes still fixed on mine.

I reached up and closed his eyes then rose to my feet and continued staring at the old man. “Daughter?” I said to myself, where could she be that she wasn’t at the….I couldn’t finish the thought from the echo of another shoot, this one very close. Making my way to the edge of a small hill I laid flat on my stomach and peered through my scope at a small fight taking place.

A young girl seemingly close to my age was on he ground with a vampire on top of her preparing to finish her off. Reaching with my finger and flipping the safety off my gun I took aim and prepared to fire as the vampire exploded into flames, and rolled over chard and dead. I flipped the gun back on safe and looked heavily at the girl who was now back on her feet. It had been years since I had laid eyes on someone so beautiful. Her long brown hair blew in the slight breeze and her tight clothing showed every curve of her body.

Standing up I gave a slight smile, I guess that’s her…but it doesn’t look like she needs my help very much. Making my way down the hill I hollered out at the girl, “So, you must be Alex.”

It was almost like staring death in the face for Alex as she was unarmed by the last vampire. Without weapons, humans were virtually powerless against them. They have keen senses, agility and strength far better than humans. But Alex did not make these bother her -- it was too late to give up. Not now.

The vampire lunged at her when it suddenly bursted into flames. His scream of agony was defeaning, it almost made Alex pity the creature. Realizing that the threat was over, Alex took her gun and stood up. She stared at the remains of the vampire with a puzzled look on her face. She heard no gunshots. What or who killed him?

The wind blew stronger and for some strange reason, it sent shivers down her spine. She felt as if someone was watching her. Her eye caught a faint shadow in the background of the woods.

"Thank you, whoever you are. I would have tried to find you but I have other things to take care of..." she said as she prepared to go uphill to their haven--fearing the worse. The gunshots have stopped and it could only mean one painful thing. But before she could move, a voice of a man called at her.

“So, you must be Alex.” he said. Alex gave her a puzzled look but realized that he came from their hideout's direction.

"Did you see the house up the hill?" she asked him, looking worried.

"Yes..." the man replied shaking his head while giving Alex a sad look. "They're all gone."

"What?? No..."

Alex ran past the man towards their house while he followed her. He was right, not that she did not believe him. They were all gone. The vampires managed to take the keys from the guards. The underground hideout was filled with dead bodies, the younger ones were not there, they were probably abducted so the vampires can feed on them in the future. Aunt Mary laid there on the ground, she was still breathing. Alex rushed towards her.

"Aunt Mary, I am so sorry..." she said to the old lady as she took Aunt Mary to her lap. It had been years since Alex shed tears. The old woman looked back at Alex, fighting for her last breath.

"Be careful...." was all Aunt Mary said before she died. Alex cried like a little girl while the young man placed his hand on her shoulder and helped Alex get up.

"I know how it feels Alex." he said to her as he let her cry on his shoulder.

"It's not fair. This is the second time I lost everyone I had. I've had enough of this creatures." she said angrily.

"I'm going to take some ammo and do something..."

Alex went to the stockroom where they all kept their guns. She took as much ammunition as she could while the man helped her. She noticed her father's room nearby and went inside.

She searched under his bed hoping to find a more powerful gun. Alex found a suitcase with a combination lock. Thinking that it contained a gun,she took a 9mm and shot the opening. She found nothing but a folder marked as "top secret" instead. Alex turned to see what's inside the folder but only saw a picture of a man, wearing a jumpsuit and some light armor around his body. His face could hardly be seen. A note was pasted over it where it was written "Trask". There was another picture underneath but it was too dark to be seen. It looked like some sillhouette of a woman.

"What was that?" the man behind her said, he had two bags of ammos on both hands.

"I dont know. Maybe this is the main guy that I must hunt down. Now, let's go.." Alex said as she kept the pictures and made their way outside. She saw her father's body and kissed him on the forehead.

"I'll get them for you. I promise."

((OOC: Hope it's OK I joined, but I did post in the signup thread. And Quistis has stamped approval upon me. Yay.))

A large slab of granite lifted up from the ground. The old rock sent up a cloud of old dust as it rose from its earthly resting place. Old, weathered writing covered the polished slab, but was long overgrown by lichens and moss. As the slab rose, a pale, bony hand wrapped its claw-like fingers around the side of the slab. With immense force, the hand and apparent arm pushed the slab off to the side. A gaunt, well dressed figure climbed out of the deep crevice below the slab, now obviously a grave marker. The figure’s skin was almost blanched white, with blue and purple veins showing through the almost translucent flesh. The figure’s eyes were bulging out of their deep set, wide-lidded sockets, but still burned a bright greenish-hazel as if still in a living, breathing body in good health. But this body was not alive by any means. This body had been dead since 1589.

“Good God, I’m hungry.” The voice was distant and raspy, but there. As he spoke, dust issued itself from the figure’s throat.

The figure was Apophys. He was a vampire, and he was, in fact, hungry. He needed blood, lots of it, and as soon as he could get it, he would. He smelled plenty of fearful blood; it gave out a stronger scent. He tried to float in the air, but was so devoid of blood he could barely hover an inch off the ground. So instead, he ran. But this was fast. His feet sent up clouds of dust from the dead ground that looked like a dust storm in a desert. As soon as he saw any signs of civilization, he made a flying leap over a set of rocks, slowly regaining his strength from the moonlight shining on him. He landed directly where he wanted – on top of an unsuspecting victim. As the blood entered his veins, his flesh puffed up again to its normal girth, his muscles coming alive with ichor, and his face filling with color. He drained this man so much his flesh returned to an almost human color.

After regaining his strength, he decided to retest some of his powers he hadn’t used in over 50 years. He looked at a rock. It lifted into the air, and then shattered into dust.

That still works.

He looked at a pair of rocks. They flew up into the air, and beat themselves against one another in a cloud of shrapnel and dust. The dust settled, to show a small figurine of an angel.

I always thought that was fun…

He then looked at a wooden beam. It burst into flames. He then hovered easily off the ground.

All here, all composed, and I am—

“BACK!” Apophys chuckled to himself. He was a bit loud. But he was surprisingly full. Who would’ve thought the old man had so much blood in him? he thought. He chuckled at his mental Shakespeare reference. He then took to the sky in a cloud of dust as his clothes finally filled out in the wind. As he whipped through the remarkably clean atmosphere, he stared down. A lot had changed since he buried himself. He didn’t see many humans, but he sensed many of his own kind. Obviously something major had happened. And he intended to find out what it was…

((OOC: That was shitty...))

Pandora sensed a man approaching as this girl regained her arms and brushed herself off. Her eyes brushed the forest over, once, twice, then landed exactly where Pandora stood, as through looking right at her.

"Thank you, whoever you are. I would have tried to find you but I have other things to take care of..." Her voice was a bit unsteady but carried to Pandora's ears. 'If only she knew...' Pandora thought to herself, annoyed at being addressed, but strangely curious about this girl.

"So you must be Alex." The man called out, coming into view. He and this girl, Alex, talked for a few minutes and she ran up to the haven, the wooden house on a hill where human bodies lay sprawled dead, drained of blood. Pandora stayed in the shadows, watching from a distance and hating herself for getting involved. She would not help this girl again, and Alex's tears caused nothing but a cold hardening in her middle, still she watched. The man stood behind her, a tentative hand on her back, trying to sympathise. All those human emotions, Pandora thought, they do nothing but drag you down. She was glad to be rid of them. But still she watched. A curiosity taking over her and transforming her to a little girl, watching with mild interest as slugs squirmed with the pain of death, yellow foam rising off of their melting flesh.

Sparx is a n00b - (lv 0)
Trask quietly paced through the streets, the only sound was of the wind whistling through the burnt out windows and ruins of a few buildings. Trask's foot falls were almost silent, an impressive feat considering the manufacture of his armoured boots and the hardware that Trask was carrying on himself. He stopped and smiled to himself as he heard the slight flutter of feet on loose gravel.

As skilled as vampires are at silence and stealth and all other surprise tactics, young fledglings were not as bright as their 'older' brethren. Fledglings had a habit of being over zealous and brash when hunting their meals. However hunting Trask was going to prove difficult and deadly, and for those fledglings, who survived, was marked for further extermination. Trask wasn't a killer - at least he didn't think so. He considered himself an exterminator, better than that he thought himself a Xenos hunter.

"Hmm I wonder who it is this time who wants to try me." Trask gave a shark like grin and pulled out one warhead handgun and aimed at the sound of a falling pile of shale from one of the buildings. The sound echoed around, but with the hyper sensitive device inside Trask's ears was able to allow him to know where it was coming from. Trask turned and narrowed his eyes at the true location of the sound and stood stock still as something whizzed past his face, opening a slight cut on his cheek. Trask turned and let loose several rapid bursts from the warhead.

The scorpion ammo blasted off chunks of the already ruined masonry as there was a surprised cry and a crumpled thud as one of the lethal bullets hit the unintended target behind the wall. There was a slight squeal of pain as the unintended target hit the ground hard. Trask grinned and slowly approached the building his guns ready and trained on anything, ready for anything that might ambush him.

There was a wild whoop in the air as bodies moved between the shadows of the ruined buildings, converging on Trask. Scavengers, vile creatures who made a living off of rape killing and theft; some were techno scavengers – looking for most modern technology to make their lives a bit easier…others were cannibals, wanting to scavenge flesh just to eat, and the others… the other were mindless thralls, survivors of vampire encounters, but with nothing more than their lives drained.

Trask thought for a moment and dove to the side as another glass arrow shot past him and hit into the ground. These bastards were ready alright, but just not that bright. Trask rolled again to the side and opened up with round after round of explosive scorpion ammunition, blasting apart parts of old walls and hitting the occasional scavenger with every third shot. Trask spun and shot his fist upwards as a scavenger had attempted to sneak attack him with a large leaden pipe until the housing of the warhead pistol shot past the creature’s face and broke its nose, followed shortly after by Trask’s right hand that smashed it into the ground. Trask gracefully leaped over another swipe from a bit of broken pipe and emptied the last few rounds of ammo from the right hand warhead into one of the scavengers before landing in a crouch and blasting off another three rounds into the remaining tow scavengers before standing and dusting himself off.

“That was different… but I must report to the mission. They need to know the status of the last contract”
