Kalm, 2100 hours

The small town of Kalm. Usually the minors will be drinking after a long day in the mines, but today It is eeriely quiet. All that can be heard is the creaking as the windmill turns and the distant sound of a vehicle stopping outside town. A group of SOLDIER members enter through the town entrance onto the quiet streets. One of them signals for the rest to halt. He steps forward slowly as not to disturb anyone or thing.

Tarith had been in SOLDIER for exactly 10 years today. The last thing he wanted was the be sent to find some missing people. He would have rather just relax in the 7th Heaven and have a couple of drinks.

He turns to the others and smiles. "Seems safe enough" he said. Tarith, although an experienced SOLDIER member, never seemed to take his responsibility too seriously. He turns back round to face the local bar. A small flickering light could just be seen reflected off the freshly fallen rain.

"Lets check this out" he said as he casually walked towards the door. The door seemed to groan as it opened, unnerving a few of the inexperienced of the group. As they walked in, the lights began to flicker. Tarith turned round to face the others.

"We may have company." He said as he drew Hellsing, the gun that his father left him. The Group ran out of the bar and were instantly comfronted by a Behemoth.

"Spread out. We have to surround it!" He ordered. He may not take his responsibilities seriously, but when it came to a battle, it was his chance to shine

((Lmao..cool, Behemoth ))

The Behemoth began to rise, standing on its hind legs, its tail swaying from side to side, giant arms hanging below its waist, it knew what was to become of it, it knew what these guys were doing here.

Sancha Pierce, a new recruit in the lowliest rank of SOLDIER, was among the squad, "Erm, What do we do!?" shouts Sancha, readying his lance and gun, "Stationary for now, we're gonna let it make the first move" replies Tarith, the squad remains still and ready for a good 5 minutes, until one of the hotheaded newbies decides that waiting sucks, "Ah, I can't stand this!" shouts the man, readying his gun, "No!" shouts Tarith, going to stop the idiot, but the man fires at the beast, direct fire all over the Behemoths chest, "You idiot!" shouts another man.

The behemoth begins to go crazy, impaling the man who shot it with its massive horn, "Gyaargh!" shouts the guy, as blood pours out of his mouth for a brief 2 seconds, "Oh shi*..This is what i didn't want to happen..." mumbles Tarith, "Erm, Mr Tarith, Sir, what the hell do we do!?" shouts Sancha, rolling out of the way of the Behemoths massive tail, "Bah, kill it!" replies Tarith, running towards the beast...

If there was one thing Adina hated, it was ignorance. Had the Behemoth not gotten to the new recruit first her anger may have had the same effect. This battle was something to be avoided and he'd made it impossible.

Adina shrugged, pulling twin daggers from her belt and smirking at the blood splattered on the street. What the f*ck? she thought to herself, spit out of habit, and charged forward towards the snarling beast.

She ducked beneath an attack by the beast and plunged her blade into the behemoth's flesh, launching up and dragging the blade with her just beneath the skin and leaving a nasty two-foot gash, blood welling up like tears just before spilling over. She planted a foot firmly against the beast's massive body and put all her strength into kicking off. She flipped in the air amidst all the angry calls of her fellow soldiers as they lunged at the behemoth. She landed softly on the dusty road and took a breath; the entire scene slowing before her.The behemoth managed to impale another new soldier who crumpled and lay dead like a brown paper bag. Something about his face, even now twisted with the pain of death, was familiar. She watched as the hurt ebbed from his features and his eyes went cold and face went slack.

She had been walking down the hall of the hotel their group had been staying at a few months before. She'd been humming a haunting song her brother used to hum just the same way. She'd learned to hum so only she could hear, even passing by someone only a few feet away. She'd been thinking about her brother all that morning and wondering what he would have looked like now. He'd have been tall, and strong. His brown hair would fall in his eyes and he would smile a lot. He would have things to smile about as well, a girlfriend and a good job maybe. How old would he be? she figured in her head, 24. Twenty-four.

Someone cleared their throat, making her jump. She turned to see a skinny boy, pale and dark haired, holding a slip of paper. He waved it with a hint of impatience. "Ya dropped it." he explained, eyeing her and raising his eyebrows. She wasn't sure what he meant by but she glared anyway.
She had narrowed her eyes and taken the paper, trying to figure out where the light that was glinting in his pale blue eyes was coming from. It reminded her of beach shells and the sky over the ocean. "Whatever." she answered, turning and continuing down the hall and out into the frost-bitten air.

She couldn't find the light now. The only color on his face was line of throbbing-red blood that spilled from his mouth. It was still hot with the memory of his life. She couldn't think of anything she'd ever seen that was any more beautiful then the sight of death, especially of this boy. The pale of his face seemed the perfect canvas for such a vibrant color. His eyelashes still cast tiny shadows across his lifeless cheeks and the ends of his dark hair dappled in the dirt and blood on the ground.

Alessan's crystal blue eyes wandered the scene of the gruesome battle that had just occured. He had barely had time to draw his broadsword before it was over. Alessan had been to stunned he didn't know why he wasn't ableto move. But Tarith, Sancha, and Adina had made quick work of the behemoth.

As Alessan looked at the one SOLDIER member they did lose he realized that this was reality, a reality that he would have to get used to or he will be consumed by this journey quicker than ever. He quickly put his sword back into the clasp on his waist and continued into the hotel where rooms were resevered for SOLDIER.

As he approached the stone steps his eyes wandered looking back and forth from the warriors that had taken down the beast. He noticed that they were always alert of their surroundings, especially Tarith. He was always looking and examining things that caught his eye. As they turned a corner Alessan caught a glance of someone that resembled his brother all too closely. He stopped in mid step and quickly turned to find that the figure had disappeared. He knew that his brother was out there, it was only a matter of time that he finds him and gets his revenge for his mother ad father. He continued to his room where he sat on the hard bed staring out the window and searching his mind to try and find the strenght that would enable him to keep up in this exciting journey he has begun.

The battle had left most of the nwbies still shaking, well, those that weren't dead anyway. In the hotel, Sancha lay in his tiny wooden bed, thinking of the days events, "Hm, I didn't think we'd be put up against something so strong, so soon..." thought Sancha to himself. Sancha held his lance up, letting it rotate through his fingers.

"Hm...Maybe the guys at home were right..." said Sancha, "Maybe I really aint cut out for this kinda work...", "Hm, you did good..." said a passing soldier, hurrying down the hall, suddenly there was a loud noise coming from downstairs, "Hey...What's goin on?" says Sancha, jumping out of bed, and throwing his SOLDIER face mask on, "I guess I should check it out"...

As Sancha ran down the stairs he met up with his squadron leader, Tarith, and other comrades Alessan and Adina, "Whats going on, Sir?" questioned Sancha, "Dunno..." replied Tarith.

Kalm 2105 hours.

Mateo had watched the squad break off into the town of kalm towards the hotel, the town was like a ghost city, deadly quiet. Mateo's team lead by some 1st class jerk-off had waited for Tarith's team to move in before following not so closely behind.

Mateo thought back to the briefing, well lack of briefing, they had told his team to help out squad A by whatever means necessary. Basically the clean up crew.

The leader of team walked through the town entrance and began jogging forward slowly his assault rifle held steadily out in front of him with his team following behind made up of rookies and trainee's. Mateo was the second highest ranking officer in this group being in 2nd class. He tugged at his red body suit with his spare fingers as he held his other pistol in front of him.

"What was that!" whispered a rookie as the leader hushed him quickly.

suddenly a gun-shot could be heard in the distance and they broke into a sprint following the tracks of the first team, soon they within sighting distance of a bloody battle, as far as they could tell a behemoth had attacked the team and already made quick work of two men as it slowly fell to it's death being overwhelmed by SOLDIER's finesse. Just as quickly as the battle had began the first team had retreated into the hotel towards their rooms obviously.

Mateo followed closely as the scond team approached the wounded bodies of the Behemoth's two victims who lied on the ground blood streaming from their sternum.

"Holy shi*!" muttered one of the soldier's as the others came in checking to see what had happened.

"Get the bodies," hissed the team leader as the newbies grabbed the two dead bodies and began dragging them into the hotel.

The first team had already registered and taken refuge in their rooms as Mateo's team followed taking the rest of the rooms that weren't occupied. As far as they new it, the teams were meant to link up now and continue on with the mission at sunrise, but this brand of SOLDIER wasn't known for it's reputation of responsibility, they were more known for being spontanious and random.

The branch of SOLDIER were now settling in quickly unpacking their gear as the next part of the plan was being forged. But then, something happened, a disturbance as the SOLDIER's rushed to the bottom floor in dismay, Something was happening and Mateo was rushing down to meet it, with all the rushing he ran unarmed leaving all but his sheathed knife in his room. He jogged down the stairs and noticed four people at the doorway. One was Tarith, a well known first class soldier, another looked to be a young, very young he was holding a halberd and looked curious, another one was a strong looking guy, about 6 foot and was carrying a pair of broadswords which looked lethal, last but not least was a girl, a mysterious girl to say the least. She carried a pair of knives in her hands, black hair hanging down her neck. Mateo only tooka quick glimpse of her realising this isn't the time to be checking out chicks, especially when she could be his superior.

He shook his head quickly as he made his way towards the quartet.

"Whats going on, Sir?" asked the younger looking member who looked slightly nervous.

"Dunno..." muttered Tarith who looked slightly confused.

Adina had entered the hotel cautiously and took a quick walk around while Tarith and Alessen chatted up the guy behind the desk. Despite the eerie calm of the town it really was a nice place. Adina had never been much for people anyhow. The hotel was quite lavish, sparkling chandelliers and a grand piano near the bar. The bar seemed to be lit by candlelight but she couldn't figure out where it was coming from, the only lights were the chandellier and some spotlights glittering on the dark silky flesh of the piano. The ebony keys caught the light and looked out of place in such a dim room.

She approached the bar, leaning back against the counter and sliding her eyes over the room. A woman in a red dress and her date sat in the back booth, talking quietly, and a few people littered the otherwise empty seating area. She ordered a drink and headed back to the lobby to find Tarith and Alessen. Suddenly the whole hotel shook. A deep rumbling shook the walls like the purr of a cat, steadily growing louder then disappearing altogether. The silence afterward was deafening. It was only when she started walking towards the door that she noticed she had put her half empty drink down and drawn her daggers.

She joined the others at the door, looking out into the ghostly street. "Not such a quiet town afterall, huh?" she said to no one in particular. The hotel was strangely still, like the still just before rain starts up. A younger man walked up to the four of them with a nervous look, his forehead scrunched up like he was thinking hard. His black hair had fallen into his eyes "What's going on, sir?" he addressed Tarith and as always Tarith, although his superior, just shrugged. "Dunno" he said casually confused like someone had asked him why the sky is blue. It made Adina smile, a small smile she kept concealed, but she smiled all the same. "I doubt you're going to have any part of it unarmed, soldier." she responded, turning from the doorway to face him. His eyes were an odd shade of hazel, like three colors mixed together but also quite seperate. They made her want to touch them, but she knew he would smack her hand away, so she didn't. He looked down helplessly and unsheathed his knife.

Although Adina was only 2nd rank she was a superior to many. She'd always wished she could derive some sort of pleasure from her superiority, the way others did, but she only felt out of place when enforcing her authority over others. She felt no better then anyone else, and unless they were completely incompetent, they were still just as valulable to SOLDIER as she had become. However, looking up into this man's eyes as he stood at ready with his knife, she felt a burning need to make damn sure he was well aware of her rank and power over him. The feeling surprised her but she showed none of these emotions. She stared stonily at him for a moment, her face expression and emotionless, then turned and stepped out into the street.

Alessan stared into the dark night sky picking some of the stars he could see while a slight breeze moved the tree obscuring his view of the street. He suddenly felt like he was being pulled to his door with in his gut that told him something wasn't right. He picked up both his broadsword and crossed them on his back like was his tradition. He stepped into the hallway and his eyes wandered the walls and floor trying to be aware of what was happening around him.

As Alessan reached the stairs he saw that there was a gathering of people at the bottom of the stairs and he identified them as Tarith and Adina, two members of SOLDIER. He began to descend the stairs he felt something rumbling. It was as if the person or thing was calling him out. He quickly got to the bottom of the stairs and greeted his clan members knowing they were both superior to him.

He found his eyes wondering once again and found that Sancha had been right behind him down the stairs and went up to Tarith and asked him, "What's going on?". Tarith continued to looked out the doorway and just shrugged his shoulders and said, "Dunno."

Xithor then heard something in his ear, almost as if someone was calling him out, the same feeling he felt on the stairs. Adina must have heard it as well because she immediately walked out into the street and into the darkness and out of sight. Alessan waited to see if Tarith would follow suit but then drew both his blades and slowly and cautiously stepped out into the darkness as well. He saw where Adina was heading and followed her but when he stepped on something Adina quickly turned and threw her arm out aiming with the dagger. He reacted quickly enough to get his sword in it's path and block it. "It's me Adena, Alessan." Adina recoiled her outstretched arm and apologized. "I'm sorry your eyes are glowing it just surprised me." Alessan should have told them his eyes almost looking like they were glowing in the dark. He had been born with a hieghtened sense out sight. "They glow in the dark," Alessan replied, "I was born with increased vision and they glow in the dark to help me see." Adina just nodded, "I see....let's wait for the others." Adina and Alessan stood waiting for their comrades to come. Alessan's eyes continued to wander though, searching for anything that was suspicious.

Sancha didn't realize the situation of Kalm. "Geez, what do we need all these othet guys for anyway?" said Sancha to one of his comrades, "Meh.." replied the guy, half dead from injuries, "Pfft.. This sucks.." says Sancha, walking outside, "Hehe, ah, lovers..." says Sancha, assuming a very sneaky position and rolling behind a nearby wall, "Now..I wonder what they're saying".

Sancha listens for a while, but can't make out anything the people are saying, "Bah, this is no good, I need to get closer" thinks Sancha, rising to his feet, and tip toeing closer to the stangers, unfortunatley, the road workers did a lousy job, and have left a giant hole in the road, "Now to justtt---", but before Sancha can get any closer, he kicks his foot on the break of the hole, and goes roling head first.

"Hey, what the!?" shouts Alessan and Adena together, drawing their weapons, the rolling klutz that is Sancha, lands on his ass right infront of the two, "Aaargh, stupid fu**ing hole!" shouts Sancha, punching the ground, after about three minutes of tidying himself, Sancha finally realises that Alessan and Adina are standing infront of him, "Eh...Sorry about that?" squeaks Sanha, rising onto his feet, "Hey, Im Sancha by the way" says Sancha, offering his hand, Alessan and Adina are obviously unimpressed, "Hm, well, nice to meet ya too" he says, crossing his arms, "Hey, wasn't that Behemoth something, and gee, Miss, that was really amazing what ya did!" hollers Sancha, trying to make conversation, once again, the two say nothing, "Pfft, fine... Stuff this!" says Sancha, starting to walk into the hotel, but before he gets there, Tarith steps outside, and marches proudly towards them, grabbing Sancha, and bringing him back to where he had just been.

Mateo watches on as Tarith drags the new comer back towards Adina and Alessan who watch on cautiously. Sancha looks at the leader who stares him down solemnly.

"Just take your orders and we'll finish this mission like that, i don't want to be here just as much as you!"

The others are shocked at Tarith's little outburst as Sancha salutes immediately showing he is ready for orders. Mateo approaches them still holding his knife which he is fiddling with uncomfortably wishing he was holding his pistols instead.

"Well, sir. what are we doing out here in the cold anyway, I'm sure it was nothing." said Mateo looking around awkwardly.

Tarith shook his head slowly as he began looking around wondering what was going on.

"Honestly sir I think we should just return to our-"

"I heard you the first time," Said Tarith cutting off Mateo.

"Well we're no use standing here doing nothing," said Alessan who looked eager to bring his broadswords into action.

"Let's split up," said Tarith who was about to give out another order.

"I can't belive Shinra cut my program," Weirgrief muttered "and now i'm stuck riding a chocobo all the way to Kalm to join some rag tag team of SOLDIERs on a rescue mission." Giving a snap to the reigns to speed the chocobo up as I think about how my luck went so bad just this morning....

"What do you mean you have no more need for me as a trainer?"
"I'm sorry sir, but most of the new recruits prefer guns to swords and don't have any need for training with a staff."

These damn recruits, I thought, they have no respect for older ways of fighting. Well, i guess i can't complain too much, Shinra at least made me a specialist in their SOLDIER program, and sent me on a mission...even thought i do have a bad feeling about this.

Looking ahead in the distance i could see a faint glow from the small town of Kalm. There have been so many report of high level monsters sighted in this area, if the reports were true then this would make this alot more of a pain than I hope it would be.

Finally reaching the town as I rode slowly onto the rode towards the center of town. I just barely made it in when i spotted the members of SOLDEIR i was to join up with, they were lined up with their leader infront seemingly giving orders.

Jumping off my cocobo and giving it a pat on the beak and some greens as it squeeks "WARK" and runs off into the night. The noise of my entrance had grabbed everyones attention and left them all looking at me. Turning aroudn andmaking my way to teh leader i hollered out "Ah, you must be Tarith..." stopping and giving a look over his squad "and thats not very many men for as dangerous as its been around here lately."

"Who the hell are you?" Tarith said with one hand on his gun jsut in case.

"Ah, forgive me...the name's Weirgrief, Shinra sent me here as backup for you. I'm to join your squad and help assist you in your mission, it's all written in this letter." is said tossing him a folded peice of paper.

As he unraveled it and took a minute to read through it then looking and and saying, "Specialist huh? Never heard of one of those in SOLDIER, but i have heard of your work as a trainer for recruits....very well, fall in line and listen up for your next orders."

Sancha, who still seemed somewhat clueless, turned to Mateo, and they both strolled away from the superiors, brushing his chest off with one hand, "Eh, don't think I've seen you before, Im Sancha!" says Sancha, once again offering his hand, but this time, to Mateo, "Hm, What are they on about?" questions Sancha, scratching his head and leaning on his trusty Lance, "Dunno.." replies Mateo, who studies Sancha's lance, "You one a those lancers, eh?" asks Mateo, "Yup.." replies Sancha.

Mateo and Sancha walk back over to Wiegraf, Tarith, Alessan and Adina, "Well, what's going on here? Can i go now?" whines Sancha, "God, this guys a lil bi--", Alessan stops what he's about to say, and Tarith manages a laugh, "Well, what an odd group we have here" says Mateo crossing his arms, "What about splitting up?" says Sancha, checking out Adina, "Hmm..hehehe" he laughs to himself, "Ah, you can get that outta yer head, soldier" interrupts Wiegraf, slapping Sancha in the back of the head, "hey!", "Shutup!" shouts Wiegraf, "You, me and Mateo here are heading this-a-way, ok?" orders Wiegraf, pointing into the darkness, "While Alessan, Adina and I, will be heading this way" says Tarith, pointing the opposite of where Wiegraf did, "What the fu**!? You're sending some old guy, a vampire and a noob into the darkness!?" shouts Sancha, falling over in a comical manner, ((like they do in poke'mon, lmao))
