TOA Planning: (SUMMER?)

alright, as me and Spike lazy about our way to getting the judgements on the final round done (its really easy to get sidetracked on more menial things like AP exam prepration

) I want to get this off my hands.

Im done, I will not be planning or organizing or at least heading the organization of any sort of the TOA from this point on, maybe help out, but I do not have time for the responsibility anymore, specially in plans on moving and going to college.

So with that said, im pretty much leaving the floor... this being my... 4th or 5th TOA I think its about time I gave it up anyways...

So whoever wants to be in charge, just volunteer, take the ropes, and when you all decide who or whom that will be... just PM merlin or an admin that you are gunna be in charge and would like modship over that forum... say I said so if it comes to be an issue.

now, that doesnt mean Im not open to help out, submit a voice or just watch over, I mean the TOA is my baby, but I don't want to be in charge anymore... so its up to you guys...

Well, I did do a lot of the work this time around (PMing everyone who registered previously, starting up the new registration thread, amassing the judges, etc.)

I think I'd like to do something similar to what I did before, setting it up without actually judging...

I want to actually beat one of these (and except for time, I'm sure I had what it took to beat it the last one)

You should help pick the judges then. Because not just anybody can touch "daddy's little girl," hm?

Seriously, though, we need to get three judges who are both willing and worthy (not sure if Spike's willing to sit another one out anyways)

A serene tranquility ebbs throughout the plush, grass-covered plains as a lone traveler strolls over the rolling sea of hills. Secured loosely upon his back is a large, weather-worn bag filled with an assortment of magical treasures he has aquired over the years of journeying. His clothes are simple ropes of deep crimson, which brush against the dew-coated blades of grass as he struts toward his destination. His face is concealed beneath a large red cap, in which a white feather has been placed. His hair is the color of the clouds and his eyes the color of the seas. He whistles a merry tune as he travels, since he has no companion to keep him company. He is the Red Mage, and he has set out today on a most special journey.

Over the course of his journey, the moon passes through each of its cycles twice before he reaches his final destination. At long last his eyes gaze upon the massive structure of an ancient arena, and a large banner is drawn across the outer rim, hanging just above the entrance. Bright red words beckon to him, drawing him closer so that he may see the inscription which it holds. A quarter of an hour goes by before the mighty Red Mage is close enough to make out the letters, and he reads them aloud to himself.

"Gribalk whelm et paisa. ~ Cussiva pu pu shumi elon"

What the hell is that gibberish? Must be High Elbanese or something. I knew I should have taken the time to learn some of those dead languages, but I just had to let the DM talk me out of it, didn't I?

He lets out a sigh of dispair before reaching into his sack, fumbling around for some unknown object of incredible power. At long last he lets out a triumphant cry as he removes a small box no bigger than the palm of a halfling's hand. He opens the lid and a pale red light emerges from within. He reaches a hand into the box and removes a small twenty sided die made from the finest quality red marble, and handcrafted by the most precise dwarven craftsmen. The die continues to emit the glow, but now the light shines brighter, coming alive with the Red Mage's touch. He whispers a silent prayer to the Dice God before tossing his treasure into the air, watching it roll down the hill with uncontrollable anxiety.

A beam of white light bursts through the clouds overhead, encasing the Red Mage within its confines. Moments later the light dissipates, leaving the Red Mage atop the hill, kneeling on one knee. He looks up with a grin on his face and gazes once more at the sign, the words now coherent.

"New Judges Wanted. ~ Tournament of Arms Staff"

Alright, count me in! he thinks to himself as he strolls down the hill, stopping briefly to retrieve his die and place it back within its box...

Well hell James, I told you months ago that I wanted to judge the summer one since it looked like my partner had disappeared. So you already know that I'm all for it. I think Psiko and I would make a great pair of judges, and then I suppose Spike could be the head of the show. Unless he participates... in which case the two of us would have to pick a third judge...

But yeah. Yeah.

Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and make the signup sheet for the new TOA over in Omega. I'll also link to it from GC, so it catches more attention. I'm going to go ahead and write out how it'll be run right there in the first post so that everyone will know ahead of time, and no one can whine about it later. Frag and I discussed Insomnia, and I'm stealing an idea.

What this really means is that I hope you and Spike get that last fight judged and clear out all of the older stuff and we get the mods changed soon. I plan on STARTING THE NEXT TOA by May 31. That will cause all of the rounds to start on a Monday and end on a Sunday. Yes.

Because hey, I pretty much gave up the whole RPB thing a while back. SO LET'S JUDGE/ORGANIZE/DOWHATEVERTHEF***NEEDSDOING. Because wally wants too.

Jus kno that I tend to disappear time and time. You kno, what with the mental instablity and withdrawals and all.

Anyways, just as we had been saying, We've all done endless stuff having to do with the TOA, and I think that the two finalists (i.e. me and Loco) should have a choice whether to return to the TOA as participants or to be judges, etc., regardless if we win or not.

Basically what I'm saying is I want to be a judge, and I think that I and Loco should have rights as such, because during the TOA my grades dropped AND I had no time to join Ballz's kickass RP. Fuuk. So there.

You can't start the TOA so early. 3-4 weeks in will be the finals for us folks, and we'll all drained from studying throughout the month of June.

Plus, the finals themselves will occur during the last two rounds or so, so the most important rounds will be the most limited in their actual content... which would be a shame, really.

Unless you plan on breaking the TOA in half, (the first two weeks of June followed by a two week break that ends sometime around July for the finalists), you are going to end up conflicting with finals.

And real life comes before forum life for nearly all of us, so the final four will makes posts worse than the sweet 16.

I think setting up the tourney with a break in between wouldn't be that bad, it all depends on how you think of it. Do people need momentum? Or do people want a break to recollect so the character doesn't feel tired?

Ballz, no offense, but if you admit that you won't be around all that often, I suppose I can't really count on you to be a tie-breaking judge. Sorry man... feel free to sign up though. I mean, it's the least you could do.

Mal, I don't see why you COULDN'T be the secondary judge, so you've got the job. Sounds great.

Frag, most people will be done with school by mid-June, correct? And 8 weeks from the start of June is the end of July, correct? Fine, how about this. I'll move the starting date from May 31st to June 14th. That's exactly two weeks later than planned, and we'll still be done by mid-August for those of us who start school before Labor Day. Sorry, I wasn't thinking when I set the date. My school year runs from mid-August to end-of-May, so... yeah.

A two week setback is now in play. I'm going to officially close down the signup thread at the end of May. Yeah, there's no rush to sign up, but I plan on continuing to push signups so we can get a full list. As for that random pairing, I've decided that I'll tell a random friend of mine, whoever might be online at the time, to just take the numbers 1-32 and mix them into whatever order they'd like to. That way, even I won't have a say in it. I'll post up the numbers at the end of the signup thread, and then I'll start the brackets.

But that's like a month from now. So yeah.

And when this round is finally completed, Psiko and I will be the new mods. I suppose there's no harm in Mal having the mod spot as well, since he'll be a judge also. Frag, I appreciate your continued help and opinions, and think you'd make a great judge in the following TOA. I don't know how many more of these I might run, but it'll be a couple. As long as we keep things rolling, people will be interested. And that, my friends, is the most important part.

K then, so I guess that's settled. Anyway, though, I'll PM Merlin about changing the mods tomorrow, unless you have done so already, in which case I won't. Yay. I have tome to do things this summer. W00t. Just a note - I won't be here from July 1st to August 1st, I'll be in England getting extremely drunk with Senna--err--I mean I'll be at Cambridge University on a UCLA Summer Program...^_^

No no, mods aren't changing until our fight has been judged. Don't worry, it's all taken care of.

And about you being away, that's perfectly fine. If we absolutely need a third opinion on something, I'm sure we'll find one. I know DragonHeart was kinda interested in judging, so perhaps we'll pull in her opinion during the month you're away.

My only request for this is to stay a mod, personal pride if you want to call it that.

But yes, a postpone-ment would be wonderful on my schedule, not run the first round right in between a move to celveland... that wouldent be to keen, this at least gives me a chance to establish a internet connection at my house before I have to be active again.

Sure, if you'd like. Actually, the only one who NEEDS to be a mod is me, since I'm the only person who will actually be creating and posting within ALL of everyone's fights. I'm making all openers, and posting all judgments. It keeps the confusion to a minimum, you see? Psiko, while judging, is taking a new road. He'll have his own separate thread where he basically writes his own RP in the POV of the judge. It'll be cool. And then, Mal's really only judging when we need a tie-breaking vote, so yeah...

Whatever. When that time comes (soon), we'll figure it out. There's no point in having FOUR mods... so either just myself, or myself and Psiko.
