How do you like your FF4?

Simple question, there are various platforms on which you can play Final Fantasy 4.. my question is, which one do you prefer personally? is it, on the original cartridge with your SNES, on your PC with a ROM, or on your PSOne/2 with your FFChronicles/Anthology(Euro) CD.. my opinion is somewhat divided on the issue so let me expand on that.

I play the ROM alot on my comp, due to the whole "I need to get sprites from it" fact, and, it runs nice and fast AND has a fast forward key. so its great for running experiments with or without codes.. since you can get it all done nice and quick, but, since it IS the ROM. You dont have that feel of authenticity, so you get a kinda empty feeling when you finish it.. again, and again, and again, without any hassles.. heh. Which is why in recent times i have leaned more towards to PSOne release of FFIV for my entertainment.. not only is it difficult, its slower (makes battles longer) and has those shiney FMV's which ive grown to love lol. I am also going to attempt (in the near future) a low level game of FFIV on the PSOne and log it all down. I love the challenge that the PSOne copy gives you, you really gotta plan your shit out if you wanna win (or if your level 99 you can just rape anyone anyway lol) so heh, i'll be having my FF4 Re-Release thanks shame they didnt have the dialog like the j2e patches with swearing and such.

I like the psone version better because it's new and improved, sure the rom is free but it does not have cg scenes, and improved music. And i'ts cheaper than the snes one. How much does it go for again?

Heh, the average price of FFC/FFA[Euro] these days is around $29 (AUS Dollars) so its quite cheap to pickup.. probably even less now its been a while since ive looked myself.. heh, anyway. The sound/music quality was actually DECREASED in the remake of FFIV for the PSOne.. to around 8800 khz.. or was it even less? bleh. The hardcore FF4 fan would boo and hiss at this lowered sound quality.. but, i for one didnt.. it made more room for added little features, like the running (OMG, i'd be so dead without it lol) and some modifications on that Mode 7.. hehe, it does run alot smoother in some parts of the game, but thats due to superiority of the PSOne processor compared to the SNES, heh.

I love the PSone version featured in the two pack..it's great..but..I play my rom version so much more..mainly cuase I can skip all the BS via frameskip, makes it go quicker heh

Well I prefer the PSone Version of FFIV. Simpley because it's the only version of FF4 I've ever played ^^"

I don't think they ever released the PC verion of FF4 in the UK -_-

Hmmm, im gonna go old school on this and say my SNES. It is actually the only ROM i still have on my comp, but the only time i play that is at school on my laptop. And well, sitting in a classroom playing it while my algebra teacher drones on about whatever just is not as fun as sitting on my couch playin on my TV. And as for the PS version, its almost exactly the same and i prefer the original, so eh.

I have my SNES hooked-up to a TV for playing two games: Super Metroid and FFIV (well 2, actually). Occasionally I'll play a round of Faceball 2000 or Bomberman with my nephews though. But, that's rare. I don't know, I just like playing the actual game. It adds to it. I have played the j2e once. I also have a guy on the Wonderswan color rom.

hmm, well I'd probably choose the ROM version, since you can save state(since I hate looking for those damn save points) and put in cheats whenever the **** you want ^^ The PSone version is good too since they put in the 'run' thing when you hold the circle button? Eh, anyways I'd choose the rom version.

I like to play mine on my super fancom(SNES). i just love the cart games. theres nothing better to me. the only problem is that it is in Jap. i cant read all of it so i also have it on psx. took me a long time to find it. its rare to find Antholgy/ Chronicals were i live. but the Rom is pretty nice it runs fast. i didnt really mind for the CG movies. well any ways i go with my Super Fancom(SNES).

First time I beat 4 was on the SNES when it was called 2. Thought it was ok. Then I beat it on ROM w/ cheats for fun. Liked on ROM more cause it was on my comp. Then played it on Chronicles for the PSOne. That was my fav way of playing it.

I like it on the computer because you can put Hacks on the games
but the Ps one was good I dont know.

I like it on the psx cos it is more comfortable to play on the contrls and i like the improvements

Unfortunately, over a year of searching has produced nothing. I NEED that damn cartridge. It kills me not having it. A couple weeks ago, I finally settled for the ROM. So, that's what I voted for. It's unfortunate, but hey... it works just as well. Dozens of copies of Chronicles around... but I have no interest in that. I'm a stickler for the originals, you know? Call me crazy if you'd like...
