FFV Sucks!

Am I the only one that thinks FFV sucks? o.O

- The GFX suck, even for SNES GFX.
- The story is dry.
- Characters aren't really unique.
- Seems like a step down from FFIV

Any thoughts?

I think your alone in that thought buddy heh, but ofcourse, me being the old school enthusiast would rather deem this game as.. "more technical then i would like" in that sense.. heh. I thought the GFX were pretty good, considering its time.. but i can agree with you in saying that IMO, the story could've had much much more to it, but does it? nope -_-. The characters too, tend to lose their "uniqueness" due to the spiffy job system, lmao.. not much variety in a complete team of BM's now is there? XD

As for being a step down from FFIV, i'd have to say no.. in all honesty, if anything it was a step up.. there was alot more technical shit you had to sort through to play the game and set your characters up right and whatever else you can think of.. not to mention, about 200 or so sprites for each character (due to Job changes) and the higher sound quality, along with a larger capacity for a whole lot of things.. (FFIV was 8 megabits whilst FFV was around 24 megabits)..

So, FFV is a good game, providing you know the little tricks of the trade, heh. I actually find it quite difficult since i dont resort to the $Toss/Mime technique all the time, heh.

FFIV is way better than FFV. In all terms except for GFX. The story was infinitly better, the character depth was unbelievable, the music was just great, and it was all together more fun to play.

V is just so boring. 4 characters throughout the whole game until Galuf dies and you get that one chick. And because there is a job system, you might as well go back to the FFI system of just choosing characters with no personality. Also, the dialogue is so bland and I feel nothing for any character. And the music wasn't that great. There are some more reasons why it sucks. o.O

FFV was one of the earleir games for the SNES if I can remember correctly..so don't really compare the GFX to FFVI or something like that...cause of course that was more advanced.
Anyways the music wasn't all that good? The music owned the place...all FF music owns...it doesn't matter how abck you go..all FF games had good music...one of the few things that FF is famous for.

The characters were quite unique in my opinion...there was good in depth story about them...and yeah..due to the classes they didn't have their own specific skills, but hey...is that a bad thing? Not really..since it's your own task to form them the way you want....which is very important to me..

Ah well...maybe it's just that FFV was the first oldskool FF I played...but hey..I still love it.

I think you people are thinking since something has the FF name or is related to FF, like the music, it has to be good. The music in FFV was nothing special. You say all FF music rocks. That's not true at all. The music in FFI-III were great for their time period, there were a few songs to remeber that are class(FF Victory song) but nothing that makes them great. IV had great music. The overworld theme is one of the most favorite throughout FF fans everywhere. Almost all the songs can be identified from IV. In V, I can't or want to remember any songs that stood out that were new in the game. VI and VII, some of the best FF soundtracks. VII is the best. I can remember every song in that game and there are only like 2 I don't like. And alot of FF fans agree witht that. VIII, IX, and X were average. The good/bad songs evened out. X-2, music sucks big time.

So you see, not everything in the FF world is great just because it is FF. It sounds bad, but it's true.

The characters were not well developed. They had no personality and you couldn't really feel for them because they were just simpletons. If you think they were well developed then you must be staisfied very easily. Just because something is Final Fantasy, doesn't mean it's the greatest thing in the world. It doesn't mean you're not a true FF fan if you hate one of the games.

I dot think FFV sucks. You do, that's fair enough. But you're saying it sucks by definition, which would mean everybody thinks the same, and they dont.

I didn't find FFV that bad, it was just hard. To tell you the truth I never really beat this game legitly, I used Game Genie codes like to Level up my Classes fast near the end of the game, I just turned them off on the last boss to be a little fair and beat the last boss so it'd be challenging and fun ^^. It's pretty f#cking hard beating this game with no cheats! The comedy of this game is pretty funny, and Galuf(was it?) swears a lot.The fights were fun and the classes to choose from looked cool (especially the Knight). I liked the Prelude of this game too. This game did not suck, it got boring maybe, but didn't suck.

I really didnt find this game as hard as people say, honestly. It was a bit tedious to level up at times, and yes, oneor two bosses gave me trouble, but I nuked them in the end, and I really enjoyed this game. I dont like it as much as I used to, no, but I still think it's great.

I still haven't finished it yet cause I was running around and ran to a place where I'm not supposed to be and I'm stuck and can't get out and I'm getting assraped <<; Hahaha.

Anyway, in comparison to how far I've gone in FFV and FFVI (which I haven't finished either; on the edge of WOR and WOB but Im too lazy to level up for the fight), I think it was more enjoyed with V. I didn't mind the graphics at all; I thought they were kind of cute. Also, the characters were interesting. If I'm remembering correctly, Faris was that pirate that blah blah blah no spoilers shit ? Haha [s]he was cool I don't often find characters that I like .. and etc. I haven't played either in a while though. Same with Xenosaga <<; I get assraped in a lot of games because I'm too lazy to fight with things

I consider FFV to be in league with FF2j... its a different taste, a different style and certainly a different feel.

Final Fantasy IV was good, yes, very good in fact, I rank it with 6 and 7 as my favorites... but because of the nature of the FF games, you cannot fairly compare one to another because they do not relate in story, and many times style. You can in that they are all FF games, and everyone is itching to see what new ideas they can come out with and how they compare... blah blah blah this is getting nowhere

FFV music is actually quite interesting, especially for its time... I happen to have the soundtrack to V/VI in buying Anthologies, and I enjoy both soundtracks for what they are, and the timeframe they were made in. FFV lacks a bit in graphics compared to its previous 4 yes, but thats because of the character models they had to work with... you say FFV's characters were boring and generic, I say IV's are, the only real change you get is Dark Knight Cecil to Paladin Cecil, once you have them they are set in their stereotype (if you want generic, go 3... the onion kids is generic). V humanizes your characters, makes them a bit normal, and the labeled trained "Knight" or "Sage". No, in fact, you have the oppertunity to turn everyone into what you want, as in a D&D... a true RP... your getting the oppertunity to cater and design your characters as you will. I find that fascinating... so many different character models, and choices you have to work with. I could make Bartz a Dark Knight, by crossing knight with black magic skills, or maybe stick him with monk and equip sword or something... or my personal favorite of just giving him 2Hands and doubling with various sword classes... much like FFT has to offer, except its MUCH earlier than FFT. That is really how I consider Final Fantasy V... the precourser to a much much better game later. The story is a bit rushed IMHO, but its not bad, it makes sense, its a bit of a spin off the previous (and future) final fantasy's (What is hte obsession with crystals anyways...) but you cant say its dry, maybe more nothing new. It also set up FF6's WOB, WOR idea...

I don't nessecarily like FFV as my personal favorite game, but I get a lot of fun out of it and think its actually pretty good, especially with what they had to work with, they really tested new ideas, and new things... as each FF has... tried out new concepts and really just put the players into a new experience. (My personal least favorite that I dont like is actually FF2, but Im only in the first say... 10-15 minutes of it, I just don't the system of that game, in my opnion)

I loved everything about FFV.I think it was one of the best FF games out there(Exept FFVI of course).

ffv was good, liked every bit of it except the end. It got me fraustrated.

My opinion is, that FF V is one of the best Final Fantasies of 'em all! The Job level-system is GREAT, because you have very much Classes to choose from, and then you just teach it to your character. It's very simple, very fun and very clever!
