Optional Bosses

Who of you all has managed to defeat the two optional bosses Omega Weapon and Shinryu?

I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm planning on doing so really soon.

What were your strategies for defeating them and what level were you at actually?

I've never tried and therefore never succeeded. I hear you have to be level 80ish to beat Omega, which would be a hard level to achieve. I normally only go as far as level 50, as I can beat the final bosses easily at that level.

Though I may give Omega and Shinyuu a try this time round, I'm playing the game again.

I have taken on Omega (FF Anthology, PSOne), with those special Fire Rings on.. my party was on Level 47-48, and i actually managed to shave about... 10,000 or so HP off Omega, before he totally raped my party.. so eh, i believe i WONT be trying to take Omega on again anytime soon.. heh, even on my Rom, my guys levels are around.. 78 or so, and i still managed to get my ass kicked by Shinryu so i guess, it boils down to having the right Equipment & Class setup to win the fight.. along with, lots and lots of levels.

I was level 71 when I beat Shinryu.

The only way I beat him was I used 4 Jobless characters. You need 4 coral rings to win. Basically, you steal the lance that Shinryu has, then you restart the battle. Keep doing it until you have enough lances for your entire party. Then repeatedly jump him to death, and heal in between. Good luck!

You can steal dragon lances from crystal dragons also. I just use the steal 99 trick. Make all of your guys lancers, give them all coral rings, and the two-weapons ability and give them each two dragon lances.

Well I don't even know where Omega is, so could someone please tell me where is it?
It would be very apreciated as for Shinryu , I ve tried and tried and cant get him, lol im 50-60 at the most though

Omega is one pain in the ass. I just had to keep on trainin until lvl 72 in my first game. Hes pretty easy at lvl 72.

As for Shinru, uhh, i dont recall ever meeting that dude. Refresh my memory please?

Busted both. Shinryu is a total whimp if u use Coral Rings and Dragon Lances. Omega is a bit tougher but not that much of a challenge imo. My level was about 55.
Locations:
Shinryu is found in the last chest before meeting X-Death at the end of the game.
Omega is tumbling around on the map in the waterfall-area of the N-Zone. Looks like a mechanical bug.

I raped them both at level 45. Shinryuu, just use dragon lances, coral rings and jump the hell out of the fucker. And Omega just make all your guys Mimes, give them S-shot, Sword Magic, and Blue magic. Cast Big Guard, Bolt 3 sword, attack with S-shot then keep miming. You may want to give someone time so you can cast haste 2. But he's a wimp you can exploit them both, you can exploit all of these "impossible" bosses making them easier than regular bosses.

Well I'm currently around level 62 with all jobs mastered except around 4 left per character. I have almost all the items, except that damn Dragon Beard and I don't have any Dragon Lances. I've fougt a bunch of Crystal Dragons but I keep getting Elixir's instead of the lance. However I wasn't aware of using the Return trick to restart the battle and continue to steal. So I may try that soon enough, and possibly on Shinryu too if he gives me the Dragon Beard.

I tried using the Fire Rings on Omega and he still shreds me within rounds, harshly.

I haven't tried on Shinryu yet simply because I haven't found the lances.

I'll try to get some using the Return spell on either the Crystal Dragon or on Shinryu himself and then I'll post my results.

Any additional tips are appreciated though.

EDIT: I just looked up a fairly accurate FAQ on gamefaqs.com and it states that you CANNOT steal a Dragon Lance from Shinryu, the commonly stole item is a Dragon Fang. The rare steal is the Dragon Beard or Dragon Whip as otherwise known. So you can only get those lances from the Crystal Dragons.
