This is a reminder that TFF is not here to be your personal image host. Attaching images is not allowed for the purpose of hosting signatures. It takes up space and eats up bandwidth. There are still many who fail to obey this rule. From now on, any attachment suspected to be used as signature hosting will be deleted upon discovery. BMT makers are encouraged to delete their banner attachments once their clients obtained it. If you won't, I will delete your topic. it's up to you.

Those who see others violating this rule are encouraged to click on "Report This Post To A Moderator" rather than telling the offender to stop and further spamming the board.

The purpose of this thread is to reiterate what has already been stated, to make a few things clearer, and to add a few more things. An additional and more important purpose, concering you, is this: if you make an attatchment after this thread is made, and use it as a sig banner, you will be first pre-warned. Pre-warnings do NOT result in actual warnings. This is a pre-warning, a heads up, so that you know that what you're doing is wrong. A pre-warning in this forum for hosting your images on tff is addition of your name to the list below and a prompt deletion of the offending image.

This may or may not be notified to you as a PM, so be sure to check this thread if your post has been deleted.

If you continue to violate this rule after the pre-warning, consider yourself warned, PER image. This does not only pertain to sig banners, this pertains to avatars (which have NO need at ALL to be posted unless giving to another person) and all other images that are linked elsewhere. This also means, if you do not understand, that you may NOT host your image here to be used for your pitas, angelfire, geocities, xanga, WHATEVER webpage.

Why is this important? Space and Bandwidth. Both are very important. Space, I am HOPING that everyone understands the concept of. Bandwidth, Web Designers will understand this. Even a person who's had a very popular Geocities site, or has been to one, understands this. What is bandwidth? As defined by M-W.com: 2 : the capacity for data transfer of an electronic communications system <graphics consume more bandwidth than text does>; especially : the maximum data transfer rate of such a system. (Additional other definitions can be sought through Google, and here). Bandwidth takes up money. Especially if it is overused. This is why if you hotlink from a web designer's website, you'll tend to find a very lengthy rant aimed at you when you're discovered :P Bandwidth also can put stress on the server, which means that the website you stole the bandwidth from becomes slow. I mean, just look at Quizilla. Many many images, many many users, many many images, many many hotlinkers. And we KNOW we dont want TFF any slower, or with any more downtime. And do also note that bandwidth isnt only sucked up the first time you view the image. Its sucked up every single time you view a different page; every single time you load an image off of TFF's server. THIS is why we made this rule.


To sum all of this up. Bandwidth is expensive and important. We made this rule so that bandwidth and space is saved. This rule means that you may not post an image that will be used in your (or a) signiture / website. Banner Makers are partially exempt from this, until the client downloads and uploads the banner to their own server, and then must delete the attatchment (given a day's time). If you must find a webhost, there are many websites listed in //{Your Digital Needs}, which was generously posted by Arus Kim. Violators will first be given a Pre-Warning, and then a warning if they continue. The pre-warning system will only be for a while, until we are sure you all understand this rule / concept. :P The format will be the username with the violation listed next to it.
