All of you seem to mention it like it is nothing. It makes me wonder if everyone has not learned what anorexia is. It's not abstaining from eating because you want to go on a diet or because you simply don't have a large appetite. Everyone knows that it's a brain disorder and that it's linked with other disorders, but no one seems to take that into account. I don't know the specifics either, but how can people just randomly lash out at anorexia, assuming that the people that are it are crying out for attention or can control it? They could very well know that they are dangerously skinny, but it's an obsession. Most feel like it gives them a sense of control or some shit like that.

Heh, I just realized that I have no right to assume all of that, but from what I've read, that's what I assume. People that believe/know they're anorexic should disagree with me.

Congratulations. Anorexia is a hard disease to ignore. There can be minor depression or hysteria. But there's only one form of anorexia.

Must take a lot of will power, so once again I congratulate you.

Must be hell.

All I know about what it feels to be an anorexic from their viewpoint is an HBO special I saw in health class.

So if it doesn't bother you, can you tell me what it feels like?

I think society is the one to blame for anorexia.
The people who suffer from it are also weak minded to think that they need to look like a skeleton to look good.

Newsflash skeletons don't look good. I would rather a chubby girl than a bag of bones anyday.

Yeah society is partially to blame, the 'ideal' body for women has grown skinnier over the years, Marilyn Monroe was considered to be the sexiest woman in the world once yes? She was a size 14, but now models are size 10 or 8, maybe even 6..so it's sad that girls feel they have to be that small..

But it's also to do with the brain in some cases, and there are a lot of psychological theories for anorexia eg.

Girl doesn't want to be a woman, because they want to remain 'daddys little girl', so stop eating so they're bodies don't take on a womanly shape.

Also a really stupid one imo by Freud, girls stop eating because they get fat and think they're getting pregnant or something..

Anyway I have never been anorexic, nor will be (love my food too much lol), but anorexia is a serious illness that shouldn't be taken lightly, but shouldn't have happened in the first place either..

There are also sites that are pro anorexia called pro-ana, which encourage anorexia, which imo I disagree with obviously. Go here for info on them: http://ana.makeupyourmind.nu/

Body dismorphia, if I remember my terms correctly, is the type of disorder Anorexia is.

Alot of anorexics have a unrealistic view of their body as a result of depression and other disorders- I don't know TOO Much, but this is like the limit -and, if asked to draw themselves, have shown that, even if they ar 5'9 and 100 lbs, they'll draw the figure like it's fat. It's a perceptual, and self esteem, problem, that is very, very serious.

Actually, saying that models are size 6 is being generous. Most are far thinner than that. Our society has ****ed up people, quite bluntly. We hold a impossible form to be the ideal figure for people, and then are surprised when they die b/c they try to achieve it. And, yes, you can die from anorexia.

Of course Anorexia can kill, I just can't believe some people encourage it..oh and there's something to do with the barbie doll that if it was a real woman it wouldn't even be able to stand up, because it's not realistic to how a human body is formed, yet girls model themselves on these, just like on the supermodels, who are not 'perfect' but rather victims.

Barbie dolls, to be a realistic size- originally, they've been modified to be realistic now -would have to be like 6'6 feet tall and have like a size 1 waist

I believe it was best said by Daniel Johns, singer of Silverchair:

Please die Ana
For as long as you're here we're not
You make the sound of laughter
and sharpened nails seem softer

And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow

Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you

Imagine a pageant
In my head the flesh seems thicker
Sandpaper tears corrode the filth

And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow

Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you

And you're my obsession
I love you to the bones
And Ana wrecks your life
Like an Anorexia life

Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you
Open fire on the needs designed
Open fire on my knees desires
On my knees for you
----

It can be a horrible state of mind that people are fixiated upon for some sort of ideal image... fearing food because it may make you undesirable. Though the people who suffer from this condition that has actually been classified as a mental disease, they relly and depend on it. Finding it, perhaps, even a comfort.

I've heard of other types of anorexics... Not just the models wasting away... but there are people who fast for religious events and holidays. There are the people who fast to protest and raise a voice through activist means.

I've also mate a rare case of anorexia... where the individual doesn' eat merely because they don't need to... finding everything else glottony and inherently wrong to eat... it had to do with a lot of personal opinions and a very personal and deep life. I'd say I admire this person a lot because of their logical opinions and really thought prevoking ideals.
