TOA Round 2: Skai VS Kylista
Alright, the first round is done, half of the contestants are gone, only 32 remain, who will win it all? Only time will tell... remember to try and somehow include the fact that the whole TOA is near or in a huge staduim (or surrounding areas for you environmental fanatics) LET the fighting begin!
Ok a reposting of the rules Quote:

“... the cheers of the crowds outside are sweet to the ear. Their words of encouragement really soothe my heart.”
Skai stood from the bench as the announcement outside waves across the outside arena, reaching his ears as it escaped the vocal cords of the judge. He stretches his arms and legs as he flexes his muscles, readying him for the match that soon to commence. The hall around him was silent, but the shouts of the hardcore fighting fans outside in the arena spread their volume of cries into the entrance to the field. This is it, today is the second round of the Tournament of Arms, a tournament held solely for warriors to limit their skills in a match against all other warriors with the same desire. With over sixty, now thirty-two warriors of different skills competing in the tournament, there will be a bloody war in this, blessed challenge. The chance is here, and it’s starting now, right here in this match. Skai will be able to bring his new abilities to its limits, the art of Mithstykal. A new fighting style he created only for this tournament. Although he haven't really bring it to the max yet, but this will be the battle where he will witness his own strengths. To support the skills, he has forged seven swords to match the seven variations of the art, divided into a group of seven auras of colors. Skai's blood boiled within his body with anticipation, he lusts for the chance to see the power. Though he desires to use his new toy, but he's not the kind of people who hunger for great powers. Let’s just say he is one who likes to try new things. “Adrenaline burns through my veins... and now is the time.” Escaping the cold and lonely darkness of the hall, Skai walks to the entrance that leads to the arena. He brings his left arm to shields his dark blue eyes as the bright glare of the majestic sun burns into the field, chasing the shadows away from the warrior. The cries of the spectators are louder in the arena than the hallway. Their shouts clearly states that they are lusting for the sight of blood, fresh cold blood that are to be shed by the warriors who will fight in this blood-stained arena field. Though high pillars and walls that block the outside wind surrounded the arena, a chill breeze still reaches to the field. The cool silky breath of breeze sent by the nature of wind brings Skai's long blood-red hair dancing in the air. The light breeze were strong enough to pull along the dark blue kimono of Skai's, along with the gray bottoms that matches the outfit. Skai gazes around the field; people of many races are seated impatiently around the arena. Besides humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, many other races of demi-human and demons have made their way from all around the world to enjoy the tournament. At the north side of the arena is where the judges are seated in. Syd, the judge of this match is viewing the field, waiting for the right time to declare the start of the battle between Kylista and Skai. Although Kylista were a friend of Skai’s, but he will not go easy on her, because he knows that she won’t go easy on him too. Both of them will fight with the best of their abilities, expecting to give a great entertainment to the spectators. “Seems like Kylista haven't enter the arena yet, guess there's still some time left to warm up.” With a slight motion, Skai thrust his right palm forward in front of him, closing his eyes to concentrate. In a few second, a thin silvery white aura emits from his palm and starts to spread, swallowing his whole body. Crunching his hand into a fist, he then releases the fist and moves the palm to face up. Out of nowhere, a katana appears above the palm of Skai’s right hand. The four-foot blade is of a gray color, just like the ones of a metal. The hilt is tied with a dark blue cloth to match Skai’s kimono; the end of the hilt is a figure of a dragon’s head, and on its mouth holds an orb with silvery white aura emitting from the center. Its blade glows with silvery white aura just like the ones that surrounded Skai’s body before and from the orb. The auras from Skai’s body start to fade away, transferring to the orb on the hilt of the sword. “Silver, a faint glow of heaven shines upon the gem of ultima. Pearl Moon.” mumbles Skai. As Skai makes his way onto the immense arena, he gives his sword a few swings, warming up his arm muscles. Anticipation has filled his body thoroughly, he wish that this battle will commence soon upon the arrival of Kylista. Though he has fought with Kylista a few times before, but he still hasn’t witnessed her real skills yet. Skai stops on his side of the battlefield and lock his eyes on the other side of the entrance, waiting for Kylista to arrive and dance the way of the sword. |

The events of the first match played over in her mind. Time and time again she analyzed her every move, noting her mistakes and judging her weaknesses, as well as those of her opponent. The match had been pathetically easy, much to her surprise, but she would not fool herself with false illusions or be distracted by arrogance. No matter. This match would make up for the last, and then some. She kept her eyes closed, feeling the rush of hot blood in her veins, the steady beating of her inhuman heart...
A knock on the door of her assigned quarters, for her personal use during the tournament, roused her from deep meditation. Kylista opened her eyes and rose from a chair by the window, dark from the shades drawn across it, then strode slowly to the door. Irritated at the disturbance, she flung to door open, crimson eyes glittering dangerously, and found one of the many aides standing in the hall just outside, staring fearfully up at her. "I requested to not be distrubed. What is the reason for this?" She inquired sharply, her voice cutting like a dagger through the empty corridor. As she spoke, her black demonic tail twitched, reflecting her ire, and inadvertantly came within the aide's line of sight. The aide, a boy of perhaps twelve, gulped and resisted the urge to make the sign guarding against demons, and started to speak, pausing only long enough to be sure his voice wouldn't break. "I was sent to tell you that t-the match will begin soon..." He replied, voice barely above a whisper. Despite his obvious fear, the boy stood his ground, waiting for a responce, even when Kylista leveled her icy glare at him, one that could make even strong men tremble. He didn't back down, or pass out, and Kylista released him from her gaze after only a few moments, which to the boy had seemed like an eternity. "Very well." She said, letting a slight smile flick across her features. Without any further words, she strode away, leaving the boy to stare at her in awe as she departed. Kylista wasn't entirely as heartless as she was rumored to be, however; without looking back she tossed a gold coin to him, and continued on her way. She grinned to herself as she heard him gasp with surprise, then lightly run after her, to watch the match, no doubt. The generosity lasted only a moment, however, as she discarded the useless emotions that would only hinder her during the match. Within five minutes she had made her way through the winding corridors and through one of several great halls, used for victory celebrations, finding her way unerringly to the huge open air arena. She paused before proceeding, checking over her armor. The armor, black with silver trim, was also very lightweight, allowing for great speed and agility, and strong enough to take several strong attacks, though it was not made to stand against the power of magic. The golden dragon head medallion, set in the armor chestplate, didn't offer defense or special abilities, and actually made her more conspicious, but she would never remove that last remembrance of her past, the last tangible link to her long dead kin. Lightly caressing the medallion, she was unable to keep a proud grin from her face, and she didn't even try, not today. She would prove the strength of her race, the ancient Draconians, and never would she hide the painful memories brought to the surface whenever she gazed at that shimmering reminder. It was Time to once again prove that the Shadow Warrior could hold her own against any opponent. Striding onto the field, she was at first met with deafening cheers, then shocked silence as the croud got a better look at her appearance. It wasn't the armor, or the tail that drew their attention, but her wings. Black wings, leathery like those of the dragons, each tipped with a wicked ivory claw. They rustled against each other softly, the only sound she made. Not even the impact of her silver-trimmed black boots made as much sound. Though perhpas that was only Kylista's perception, since her wings were closer than her feet, so naturally the sound was louder to her keen sense of hearing. Ignoring the sudden motion as several thousand spectators all made the sign for guarding against demons, she continued toward her opponent, stopping a mere twenty feet from him. The wind brushed against her face, ruffling her hair, and she absently twisted a stray lock of her long black hair around one hand as she gazed at Skai. He looks much stronger than before...I will have to be more cautious than usual. She had carried no visible weapon before, but having arrived at her destination, it was time to change that. She let go of her hair and held out her left hand, palm facing toward the gold orb of the sun, and closed her eyes, calling forth the Blade of Darkness from its resting place in an immortal plane. Black mist formed above her hand, swirling in lazy circles before condensing into the form of a five foot long sword that gleamed maliciously in the sunlight. The hilt and trim were gold, the hilt resembling a fighting dragon, while the blade itself was blacker than obsidian and crystalline in appearance, though it was not made of any known material. Inscribed upon it, in a language long since lost to all but a select few, was the given name of the sword. Shadow Wind. This was the blade Kylista, and Kylista alone weilded. The blade would accept no other master, and had proven so time and again in the past five thousand years since she had aquired it. Shadow Wind hovered in the air, coming to rest in her hand as she grasped the hilt in her left hand. She swiped the blade back and forth experimentally, quickly readjusting to the feel of it, and stepped easily into her fighting stance. She held Shadow Wind at her side, the blade pointing skyward and over her right shoulder, and slide her left foot back for stability. Only then did she speak. "It has been a long Time, my friend. I have been waiting for our next meeting, though this was not quite what I had in mind. But now is not the time for trivial niceties. Our blades will meet again this day, and may the strongest win. You may have the honor of first strike." And with her words still fading in the air, Kylista settled her crimson eyes upon Skai, awaiting his first move, the first steps in the dangerous dance of blades they would perform this day. |

Cold. A cold chill of freezing wind past by and pierce his heart as he stood silently. An aura of shadow have risen from it’s dark, place of slumber. A power so dark that even the mightiest demon will stood with awe at the sight and feel of it. Though the powers were strong, but it did not frighten Skai one bit, but in fact, it only gave him a smile of delight. This tells that one person whom Skai respects highly of, has arrive to the present.
The crowd were still roaring loudly with anticipation as Skai stood at his place, but silence conquer the arena as the arrival of Kylista takes place. All could tell that everyone was lock at her wings, leathery dragon wings. This isn’t much of a surprise for Skai, since he has seen it before, but he has to admit, those were some awesome wings. Skai took this opportunity to study his adversary. She have gotten much stronger since the last time they met, and with this set in his mind, Skai will surely fight with his best skills. After admiring the ancient wings of Kylista, the crowds went back to cheering for either warriors. Just at this moment, she started moving, doing her usual battle routine. She summoned her blade to her, grasping the hilt and then proceeds to commence the match. Her sword was one of the best Skai have ever saw. Being a pure swordsman, Skai knows a lot about swords, and seeing Kylista wielding her treasured blade, he’ll have to be cautious during the fight with her. Finishing her sentences, Kylista jumps into a defensive position and beckons for Skai to make the initial attack. The lust for battle within Skai’s veins has settle down, for the real battle starts now. He gives his sword a light swing to the right with his right hand while locking his eyes on his target. “This is great... we haven’t won each other in a match yet, but let this be the one to decide who is the better warrior!” said Skai as he brings his sword forward, pointing the tip towards Kylista. Without further delay, Skai dash forwards, leaving clouds of dust hovering behind as he charges forward with great speed. He sprints with quick speed, but without any noise from his lightning steps. He reaches Kylista within seconds. Bringing his sword downward for a charging attack, he then unleashes a ferocious swing towards Kylista’s waist. As the sharp edge of the blade reach her clothes, Skai cancels the attack and thrust his blade downward onto the solid ground. Using the sword as support, Skai swings himself around, attempting for a roundhouse kick towards Kylista’s head. |

As Skai dashed forward with soft lightning steps Kylista narrowed her eyes, focusing completely on him as he moved, blocking out everything else, including the wild cheers and taunts of the crowd. The world around her didn't matter at the moment, and she was intently watching his every footstep, the way he handled his blade, searching for a hint of his attack, or of weakness, but she found none.
Upon reaching her position he swung his blade is in a slash toward her, and Kylista automatically shifted Shadow Wind to block, but to her complete surprise the sword didn't follow through, instead angling down and plunging solidly into the earth. He jumped up, aiming a powerful kick toward her head, but Kylista was no slouch when it came to speed and agility, and she lightly sidestepped, almost out of harm's way. A sudden sharp pain in her shoulder, however, and Kylista realized she had made a rare miscalculation, and instead of missing, his kick caught squarely in the shoulder. She grimaced, feeling the pain every time she moved her arm, but her armor was strong, and it would leave little more than a bruise, nothing serious to her, as she had faced Death countless times, and a wound like that was nothing. It would take far more to bring this dark warrior down. While Skai's momentum made it more difficult to defend, Kylista used it as an opportunity, for with the blade still stuck in the ground he would be at a disadvantge if she went on the offensive, or so she judged. Not being one to waste such an opportunity, just after his attack hit her Kylista moved in for her retalitory strike. Pivoting on one heel, to face Skai's back, Kylista swung Shadow Wind into a vertical position, letting it pause there for but a fraction of a second, then let gravity add to her power as she brought the blade whipping downward into a furious slash, angling it slightly so if the attack hit it would go from shoulder to opposite side near the waist. As she went through with the attack she immediately flipped the blade and arced it back upward in a rising slash, hoping that if the first strike didn't land, the second would, or at least catch him off guard to weaken his defenses. She held back on her magic though, at least for now. She was more checking his defenses, looking for a weakness, and waiting for the right time to unleash her wrath upon him, for even friends were not safe from her draconic lust for battle and blood. |

Silence completely filled his mind as his attack dispatched. Skai’s sword sent forward to Kylista’s waist caught her off guard as she brought her sword to meet the blade of Skai’s, but to her dismay, Skai instead launch a roundhouse kick at her with the help of his sword plunging into the ground. The kick missed its target, but instead landed on her shoulder, which got her off a bit of balance.
Suddenly, Kylista shifted around behind his back. He could feel the rushing air as she brought her sword downward toward his back from above. At this point of time, Skai’s mind went blank for his only purpose at this incredibly short period of time, was to avoid being hit. His sword was stuck on the solid ground, and it’ll take a while to pull it out to freedom. There’s nothing but that technique... Clang... Silence has reign over the spectators, for nothing could be heard but the breathing of the people. All their eyes widen as the lightning quick movements have brought them into a trance. Everyone was concentrating on the two warriors on the field. Kylista widen her eyes, as her attack has not mark a slash on Skai, but was blocked by his sword. Skai’s left arm has reached to his back as if trying to scratch his shoulders. On his hand grasped a sword, not the silvery sword standing upon the solid ground, but another sword summoned to his aide. The sword was of a fiery red, its blade shining red with sharp gray edges. Clasp on the center of the blade was an orb, a red orb with a symbol of fire, representing the burning anger of hell. It’s hilt too, was of a shade of red, and at the end carved a head of a fiery dragon. Kylista felt impressed, but with a smirk on her face, she brought her sword all the way down, continuing her attack. As she brought it down, she immediately flipped the sword and brings it upward in a rising slash. To Skai dismay, the slash caught him nearly above his waist. The attack push Skai forward as he wince in pain, the wound stinging his nerves. He quickly turns around as he calms his nerves down, putting the pain away from his mind. With a slight grunt, he withdraw Pearl Moon from the ground and with a light swing, the sword vanish into the thin air. Holding the flaming red sword forward, he points it at Kylista and smiles. The blade of the sword starts to burn with fire, a fiery hot flames devouring the blade. Though the heat was intense, but it was nothing for Skai to withstand. “Red, fiery depths of hell burn with all its might. Breath of Fire.” (( OOC: Hope you don't mind me controlling your character's expression a bit. =P Later in the future, you'll see me say some sentences similar to the one above. Keep in mind as it's just some simple kind of chant when I summon another sword. )) Last edited by Skai; 09-19-2002 at 09:06 PM. |

Okay.....another evenly matched battle.
Why can't all the battles be n00bs versus vets?! How come I get all of these hard battles?! Its not fair! You don't see Mydako judging Even-faced battles. But then again, you don't see Mydako judging at all. *sigh* I'm going to have to give this to......Kylista. She had the better intro, sorry to say. I liked the way she put her character into a conversation with another person. Its very nice the way some people can actually strike in a bit of RP'ish nature to their RPB. It makes it considerably less dull. And it really sucks. Because Skai, you kick ass. I mean, the 7 sword thing. That was brilliant. Bloody brilliant. But Kylista's post was just a little better. |
