I read this on a cheat site (i forget which one). Once Golbez's hand takes the dark crystal and vanishes, in the throne room, don't go anywhere, and use warp. you'll be back in the crystal room, and the crystal will be there for you to take. the only way this changes anything is when you get Luca's Key and go to the cave, when you walk to the door Golbez appears and takes Kain instead of you going through the cave to get the crystal and then him disappearing. If you go through the cave to the crystal room, the wall will close in on you and there won't be a crystal inside. (for people who already played the game, you should un-equip armor from the player that you lose when it comes to that, such as before the village of mist, un-equip Kain's iron armor then sell it. just a tip)
