Go into any battle and wait until there are no menus up (in between turns). Quickly press the following sequence on the controller: Up, down, up, down, x, o, x, o, triangle, select. After you defeat the enemies, there will be a scene where General Leo walks onto the screen, but obviously something is wrong because he attacks your party.
It is in fact ZOMBIE LEO! He's incredibly tough, and using a phenix down doesn't work like most undead enemies. Use fire and pearl for the most damage on him, as physical attacks are almost useless. He blocks and counters most physical attacks, and even if they do hit him his defense is so high it barely hurts him.
Use a remedy on him when he kneels down (he's out of HP) and he will turn back to normal and join your party afterwards.
