The first time I played through on the old NES version, I named them after myself and my friends. I'll probably replay it soon on Dawn of Souls and here's what I plan to have.
Monk - Judah
Thief - Drake
Red Mage - Travel (short for Travelsman)
White Mage - Elia
These are all characters from the fiction I write. The Travelsman is a bard/swordsman guy who is somewhat of a hero for the region.
