I was literally about to start a thread on it directly before seeing this thread seeing how I recently had a bible study last night based on The Da Vinchi Code. The guy that presented it proved most of their theories wrong and told everyone to remember it is historical FICTION.
He also said that when people read this they are looking for one of two things:
1) A good mystery novel.
2) The feeling of comfort that God isn`t real.
Yes, this book is entirely fiction and most of the things Dan Brown comes up with are hilarious because of how stupid they are.
I particularly don`t give a crap about this movie, but alot of churches do seeing as it is a way to directly attack our religion and say all we believe isn`t real. Dan Brown is trying to get people to become Athiests.
Just in case anyone ACTUALLY BELIEVES this crap, the following statement will shatter all hopes:
The Priory of Zion was certainly a real movement. However, it started in 1956 by a French politician. Not in the 1000s.
I can try to prove some of these theories wrong however my knowledge of the book isn`t that great, because I refuse to give any of my money to Dan Brown whether it be his movie or book. I am getting a book that goes through The Da Vinchi Code and proves each theory wrong step by step.
All in all, this just seems like a anti-religious, controversial version of National Treasure. I has respect for Ron Howard until now.
EDIT: Oh and to add, Jesus did NOT have kids and He wasn`t married to Mary Magdelan. Just thought I would let you know. If you guys want me to back that up, I will be more than happy to.
