I haven't noticed if any other threads for Final Fantasy II, but it is talked about often within other threads.
I believe FF:II was the first time Chocobos and the infamous character "Cid" were introduced, which was pretty amazing for obvious reasons. I enjoyed leveling the stats of a player for merely using spells or physical attacks, whereas it become somewhat more difficult to level via the progression of the various future Final Fantasy titles, which I liked more. I'm a fan most of all, of Final Fantasy VII's Materia system -- but overall I like leveling my characters through experience points, because I keep an eye on how they are doing better... for me anyways.
The English-release in 2003 definitely had some nice updates from the original. I didn't REALLY get into Final Fantasy however when I was younger until Final Fantasy III -- nonetheless I started with FF:I.
