I've never seen the "better graphics" reasoning for a FF:VII request. Better graphics is just something that would be a given if a remake or sequel was developed.
Also, the reason for remaking FF:VII or making a sequel to it, is because it is by far the most requested remake/sequel compared to any other FF game at the moment. The fan base for FF:VII is higher than any game, it is also the best-selling RPG (since March 2006) selling almost 10 million copies worldwide, on top of having so many different storylines for spin-off creation. These are only a few reasons why a FF:VII remake/sequel would be considered as opposed to any/every other Final Fantasy.
True there are the respectable fans out there that request FF:VI sequels, and FF:VIII sequels -- but these are heard far and few between the FF:VII fan's cries. So it's not the point of "Why not make remakes or sequels for all the Final Fantasy's?". It's the fact FF:VII is so popular, and whatever Squenix develops via the compilation of the Final Fantasy VII series
will be bought, and 9 times out of 10 the fans will love it.
