No it isn't. I've cleared TFF Cain Highwind's version in about 25 hours. And his version was almost the same as the original, he even took out the Quadra Magic and Attack. I also included all of the sidequests. You understand? I cleared the game in 25 hours, sidequests included.
FFVII can easily top that. The Golden Chocobo sidequest alone can make FFVII a lot longer than FFVI.

I HAVE played FFVI, the re-release on the PSX. Played yours for fun, and to appreciate the game more.
Yes, the Materia system messes with the character originality. But they are all different in the view of stats and...yeah so are the ones from FFVI

I DO like the variety of characters in FFVI, it makes the game more fun.
Also, the FFVII soundtrack wasn't good on its own, but knew how to mix well with the ambience of the game. Through the whole game, the world is just rotting, and seems as if it will end soon. So, of course, the music should reflect that. The FFVI music has some rather good tracks, but then again, so does every FF. I personally don't see it as Uematsu's best work. The FFIX soundtrack would have the honor in my perspective.
Sephiroth IS and will STAY the best villain of all RPG's. He is not overrated, because he shows his pure evil. Behind this all is the love for his mother, which he tries to bring back and punish all who did her wrong. In a way, he's being just. But only in his sick, world-destroying way. And also the final fight with him was just amazing. The concept of Supernova was very very cool, Kefka doesn't have anything that can compare with that.
So, no, Sephiroth isn't at all overrated. I think you just said that as a joke
