When he came back at the end of FFX...actually, I can't finish that sentence, because he came back at the end of X. With all those fayth yelling he'd be rewarded for saving the world, and seeing him return, in fetal position, signing rebirth, and him, well, RETURNED! I thought that was IT.
Can someone please explain what happened? Did he get Lost in Spira? Considering he is pretty retarded, that could be a plausible explanation, but I still wonder.
And then...okay, say he didn't REALLY come back at X. Why the crack did they use the same scene in the ending of X-2 again? Was Square lazy or were they just attempting to fill their huge hole 'o plots? Was it a preview for X-2? Did they do it like that so they could make a sequel? Was it supposed to be a vision?
Seriously, confusion.

Spoilers!
It's really rather simple.
Square put that scene in FFX as a kind of closure. Everyone was all WTFOMG Tidus is gone? It's Aeris all over again!
Well... not so much because Tidus wasn't so loved. But it was added for that purpose.
When they made X-2, they came to the assumption that Yuna was trying to get Tidus back, and they should make it so she could. They then used the ending of FFX as a foreshadower, and took that scene to splice into the end of X-2.
So basically, what you saw at the end of FFX was Tidus returning after Yuna earned his right to life by smoking Vegnagun. They simply integrated the same scene to show what happened after Tidus broke the surface. It was actually good planning.
