I agree, the character is far more important. I mean, sure you get unmeasurable attacking capabilities, but unfortunately there is more to the game than that. Shitty character, low speed. Enemy goes first, bam, character with a good weapon (but no defence) is dead. Sword seems useless now. Same goes with magic and other things of the sort. Character needs to have more stats than just attack.
