Right, but here's the thing -- if none of the new elements are implemented on the EXISTING forum skins, then no one will HAVE to see them. They may be "participating" in the new elements without having an active role; obviously their statistics will affect the proposed system whether or not they choose to even view the new goodies.
I suppose that's what I meant when I used the word "optional."
