Survival became Tobias's priority. He didn't know anything about his opponent, or even if it shared his handicap, the inability to see. He stood in a defensive position, crouched slightly with Aegis held tightly before him. The sound of sliding steel confirmed his enemy's presence.
His heart pounded violently in his chest, almost becoming audible. He felt helpless without his sight, a caged bird confined in a cell away from the sky, open for a fatal strike by the approaching predator.
His hand swept across the shelf's surface behind him, blindly grabbing two knives while sweeping the rest onto the floor. He had grabbed the knives by their blades as a firm grip drove the steel deep into his flesh. Energy poured into the objects, giving them a soft warmth and glow hidden by the darkness.
Tobias threw the knives at the enemy's presumed position. If the objects collided with something, the stored energy would escape rapidly in a small explosion.
