sir, i'm not sure how much you've been spoiled by games since the 8-bit days, but after playing FFI, II, and III on the NES i will come out and directly say to you that FFIIIj's graphics are INCREDIBLE compared to what had previously been done on the system. there are tons and tons of tilesets, the monsters have a sort of black outline around them that they never had before, the overworld mountains are actually mountains instead of bizarre white blobs, there's an underwater world tileset with floating bubbles, there's a floating continent you get to blast off of, a gigantic castle town 10 times bigger than any city yet in a final fantasy game up to that point, not to mention all the job/weapon animations. i can't believe they fit it all onto one cart!

the thought of playing it with 16 bit graphics DoS style is enticing - but hey, 3D on the DS is good enough for me
Terribly sorry, didn't know u were such a huge fan of it and yes, the graphics were advance for the time they were created. I'm just used to play FF's with much better graphics like FFXII.
I'm now playing FFIIIj in the NES emulator for my PS2, the story is really cool, but it would be nice to play with better graphics, that's all
